Help Removing Incorrect Release Date for Unreleased Short Film

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some help with correcting the release date for my short film Don’t Make A Sound (2018). I created this project when I was 12 years old, and the film was never released in any capacity.

There was:

  • no public screening

  • no festival submission

  • no online upload or premiere

  • no distribution, physical or digital

Despite this, IMDb shows a release date of “6 May 2018 (internet)”, which is incorrect.

I’ve submitted multiple requests to remove this release date, including detailed explanations stating that the film remained unreleased and that I am the creator. However, each submission has been rejected with:

“Does not meet contribution guidelines.”

I understand IMDb normally requires evidence when correcting release information. The problem is:

there is no evidence to provide because the film was never released anywhere.

There are no links, no festival listings, and no public announcements, since the project stayed private.

Is there a way for IMDb staff or moderators to manually remove an incorrect release date when no public evidence exists? Or is there a specific process for unreleased projects?

I would really appreciate guidance on how to get the page corrected so it accurately reflects its production history.

I understand your policy but this doesn’t help with my situation. I’m the creator of this project and I’m trying to remove it entirely which is why I requested the date to be removed before deleting the project.

Could you please advise what proof you require so I can verify my ownership and proceed with removing the project?

The title does not meet IMDb’s eligibility criteria because it was never publicly exhibited or released in any form.

Thank you for your reply but I believe there is a misunderstanding...

The release date on the title Don’t Make A Sound (“6 May 2018 (internet)”) is not factual information. The project was created privately when I was 12 years old and was never released in any form:

• no public screening

• no festival submission

• no online release

• no distribution

Because it was never exhibited publicly, there is no evidence of release, and therefore the listed release date cannot be correct under IMDb’s policies. The title also does not meet IMDb’s eligibility criteria, which require public exhibition.

I am not asking to delete any valid information, only to remove this incorrect release date for now. Could this please be sent for manual staff review? I can verify that I am the creator if needed.

Thank you.
