Help correct a release year: Jimmy the C (1979 -> 1977)

The animated short film Jimmy the C, directed by Jimmy Picker, is currently listed in IMDb with the year in parentheses after the title of 1979. Apparently no release earlier than January 1979 has been identified to IMDb yet.

But, as shown at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076230/awards/, the film was an Academy Award nominee for Best Short Film, Animated in the 1978 ceremony. And under the Oscar rules at the time, that means that the film must have been shown in a movie theater in Los Angeles County at some time in 1977.

Can anyone help figure out a way to identify a specific showing of Jimmy the C in 1977 (or 1978, if nothing can be found from 1977), in order to get the film listed in IMDb under a more appropriate year?
