Goof contribution declined (Terminator 2). I have no idea why...

#240219-170348-714000

My goof contribution for Terminator 2 was as follows:

"Shortly after the guards at Pescadero catch up with and tackle Sarah, the Terminator manhandles all three male staffers in an extremely violent way, even throwing one of them through a window. But the female guard is merely pushed across the floor, even though she was the only one to land a punch at him. There is no reason why a machine designed to exterminate mankind would show even the slightest hint of gentleman-like behavior."

^ This goof addition was declined, and the reason given was:

"We have been unable to verify your contribution."

What exactly were you unable to verify? That terminators are designed to kill people? Or that they are obviously NOT programmed to act like gentlemen?

Frankly I was very surprised to see this one be declined. Would appreciate a more in-depth explanation. Thanks.

Hi @kurtslater -

The goof is not eligible as it is based on personal opinion, they must be factual information, visit our help guides for more.

Cheers!

@Bethanny Thank you for the reply. But I'm afraid that the reasoning still escapes me.

We are talking about a terminator - a soulless machine - designed by AI for the sole purpose of obliterating mankind. A terminator simply would not treat the most violent guard far more leniently just because she was a woman.

That's not opinion. It's pure and simple logic.

@kurtslater Hi! I understand your point of view, but it is still subjective opinion, the machine throwing two men out a window and pushing the women across a floor, doesn't really mean the machine was being a "gentlemen", that is subjective opinion, unless during the scene the terminator does explicitly say he did it to be a gentlemen.

I hope that clarifies.

Cheers!

What I have described here is an obvious goof.

The terminator's completely illogical distinction based on gender is clearly a result of the moviemakers wanting to taylor the script to a modern audience. They probably feared that people would cringe at the sight of a woman falling victim to extreme violence, but logic nevertheless dictates that she should have been treated even more harshly than the male guards.

Nothing personal, but I completely reject the idea that this is subjective opinion. Cases like this make me question why I should even bother trying to contribute to your site.
