Frank Oz WAS Yoda

Trying to remove "voice" attribute from Frank Oz's credit for Yoda on Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi, but it keeps getting denied. I think the credits are locked.

Oz operated the muppet with the assistance of Kathryn Mullen's "right handing". Her credit is listed (under Additional Crew) as Performing Assistant, but Oz's performing credit is missing. His performing credit should be listed under Cast with his voice credit (IOW simply remove the voice attribute), as his original onscreen credit lists him as "performing" Yoda and not as just the voice (like James Earl Jones for Darth Vadar).

Hi Mvybuf -

For this role, we will need to retain the "voice" credit attribute, as Frank OZ did perform the voiced role for the character "Yoda".

Cheers!

@Michelle You really didn't read what I said in the second paragraph. Unmark the "solved" and read it again please.

Hi @Mvybuf -

As I understand, you are requesting to remove the "voice" attribute from the cast credit for Frank Oz because in addition to providing the voiced role for the character he also operated the puppet, is that correct?

If so, this would not warrant the removal of the "voice" credit as per our current policy.  For example, Andy Serkis performed motion capture movements for the character Gollum in LOTR, however, his primary role was the voice of the character Gollum.  So likewise for Frank Oz, his primary role was the voiced character for Yoda.

I hope this helps clarify.

@Michelle You're still missing what I said.

1) There is NO CREDIT ON IMDB for Frank Oz performing Yoda. It is missing.

2) Frank Oz performed the Yoda muppet (not puppet).

3) Kathryn Mullen was an assistant (she performed the right hand). Deep Roy performed the eyes. Mullen and Roy ARE listed on IMDb. Frank Oz is NOT.

4) Credits on IMDb must reflect what is ONSCREEN.

5) Oz's credit onscreen is AS YODA, without the word "voice". As a counter-example, James Earl Jones IS credited onscreen as the VOICE of Darth Vadar. Frank Oz is NOT credited as just the voice of Yoda.

6) You need to credit Oz AS Yoda. This credit is missing. Oz's onscreen credit is AS Yoda. Therefore: remove the voice attribute. In both movies.

I tried to be succinct. Didn't know I had to spell it out in such detail.

Puppeteer credits are not accepted as cast credit, they belong in other crew. That should be the reason for only taking the voice role to the cast section.

Credits must reflect what is onscreen but they should also be formatted according to the guidelines when necessary.

@mbmb I don't know if I agree with that. George Lucas certainly didn't when he tried to get Frank Oz nominated for an academy award for best supporting actor. Lucas saw Oz as an actor equal to others. Unfortunately, the Academy disagreed and denied Oz's nomination, saying that puppeteers aren't actors. Lucas was angry at them over that (he still is).

Oz didn't care really. But, being a big muppets fan, I agree with Lucas.

Anyway, the problem in this thread still stands because Oz has NO credit on IMDb at all for "performing" Yoda. And BTW, that's exactly how Oz is credited onscreen: "Frank Oz performing Yoda". You can't just list the assistant performer of Yoda (Mullen), without listing the person she's assisting.
