Formatting of services ranks in credits - avoiding a space either side of a /

I'm correcting credits for Pathfinders tt0165053 where the on-screen credits give character names using abbreviated RAF ranks - for example "F/O Jack Chatteris" (F/O = Flying Officer). But IMDB "corrects" this to "F / O Jack Chatteris" with a space either side of the "/". Is there a way of avoiding this formatting problem? I imagine it has been coded to handle the situation where the "/" is used to delimit two character names eg "Jim / Dave" implying that an actor played two characters. But that space is not appropriate in this situation.

So far I have done episodes 1.1 and 1.2 (eg submission 240903-170852-379000). In the past, someone has expanded all/most of the abbreviated ranks but I presume IMDB prefers "transcribe as it is written".

Hi @martin_695862 -

Since "/" is used to divide characters it would be difficult to decide in which cases it should do that and in which not. We will though, send your comments to our team in charge.

Thanks!

Maybe let the submitter determine the spacing: submit as "F/O Jack Chatteris" and "Jim / Dave", and it stays like that, without form validation either adding spaces to the first or removing them from the second.
