For the "Showrunners and Head writers" section of "Filmography" IMDb Help Center

There needs to be a minor fix for the showrunner section.

According to the Producers Guild of America (see here http://producersguild.southleft.com/code-of-credits/), the showrunner is ALWAYS given the credit of executive producer and often created the show as well.

This is how it should be rephrased (https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/showrunners-and-head-writers/GWM56FK8YQM2MV6R?ref_=helpms_helpart_inline#):

"A showrunner is the unofficial title given to the top-level executive producer and creative decision maker managing all episodes of an individual season of a television/episodic series.

They are ultimately responsible for the overall tone and creative direction of an entire season, ranging from selecting its' cast members to overseeing the work of the various directors and/or department heads who contribute to individual episodes. In some cases, they may also be the show's creator, writer, and/or head writer for that season."

And add that the head writer is often the creator as well:

"A head writer is the title (sometimes unofficial) given to the top-level writer who oversees the team of writers working on an individual season of a television/episodic series.

The head writer is usually credited as an executive producer, producer, and/or writer. In some cases, they may also be the show's creator and/or showrunner for that season."

Hi @EliAllen94 -

Our policy team has reviewed this, we appreciate your feedback but for now we won't be adjusting our policy, but will keep this in mind and we thank you for sharing the stricter definition with us.

Cheers!

Okay. The current policy is not technically accurate, as the Showrunner is ALWAYS the top-level executive producer for a TV show; not credited as any producer or writer.

Take care!

From,

Eli
