Fixing Cast Order

  1. go to the title page of the movie for which you want to correct cast order data.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the movie details page and you'll see an "Edit page" button. Click on it.
  3. On the Updating Information page that will come up, scroll down to the "Cast" option and select "Correct/Delete" from the drop down menu. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the button marked "Continue".
  4. You'll get a full listing of all cast credits along with their order numbers.

But I don't get a full listing of all the cast credits. I get like four. Please help

I think you're talking about a series here and you are trying to edit from parent series page, these 4 should be the ones added to parent series page. Instead you need to edit each episode separately, it's not possible to edit all episodes from parent series page.

@mbmb Hi, thanks for replying so promptly! If I put the few cast members on each episode page in order, how will that play out when someone looks at the total cast and crew on the show's title page? Why are there only 4 cast members showing on what you're referring to as the parent series page? It only looks that way when I click edit. But the total cast members are 34.

@breindel_wood You're welcome :) After you edit all episodes they will all be combined and reflected on main title page automatically, should be ordered by most appearances in episodes, order number is also considered when appearance number is same I guess. Adding cast to parent series page while there are episodes is not allowed anymore. But it can happen when there's no episode listed yet or when creating the title page initially. Ideally you should delete these 4 from parent series page and move them to their relevant episodes, so automatically generated display on main page from episodes would be flawless.

@breindel_wood You want these deleted right?

You can wait for a staff member to visit this thread to handle it (only staff can delete titles).

or you can ask from here: https://help.imdb.com/contact

(I need help and haven't submitted an update -> Titles -> Delete a title)

@breindel_wood Unfortunately someone marked this thread as "Solved" (curiously not when it was actually solved and correctly answered 2 days ago but now, when it actually needed a staff action) so you will need to open a new thread for this request.

There’s no need to ”delete” anything (certainly don’t try to delete names just because they’re not added/tied to the specific episodes yet). Just add all the episode credits and the names from the ”title page” should fall in their place (when they’re part of the correct episodes).

@eboy Series-level credits should be deleted after they are attached to episodes (these 4 credits talked here were already attached, and what I suggested was "delete and move" at the same time if it was not already attached, which is what contributor interface does when you use its move to episodes feature, it adds them to episodes and deletes from series-level automatically, that's what the software of IMDb does), because often they are added while creating the page and does not always reflect what was in the episode exactly, so there can be inaccurate character names etc.. So there's need to delete them. They will be compiled from episode data.

What she was trying to do was "correct" things (order numbers etc.), that's not possible to do via main title page, do you know a way and can you show a screenshot to do that via main page?
