Final episode of Two and a Half Men should be separated into 2 parts episodes

"Two and a Half Men" Of Course He's Dead: Part 1 & 2 (TV Episode 2015) - IMDb

This episode is aired as 2 separate parts. Each part has different opening and closing credit. At the moment, we can't input the order of the cast member. So it needs to be separated into 2 episodes for us the put the cast in order.

To make things easier to process, you may copy the content of part 1 to create part 2 then I will make the adjustment of each part for cast, trivia, quotes and connections. Thanks.

Hi @sammypan -

You will need to add the episode and add the information to that. Follow our help guides for more.

Cheers!

Sammy and Bethanny: Sorry, but I have to disagree with Sammy on this point. Please don't split this episode into two episodes.

I don't have proof, but I did watch this episode on its original broadcast in the USA, and it aired as a single hour-long episode, not with closing credits for the first part at the half-hour mark followed by opening credits for the second part.

In syndication and cable airings, I'm sure it does have separate credits for each part, but that doesn't reflect the original broadcast.

In fact, I submitted a correction on this point shortly after the episode originally aired:

Contribution #150220-030210-378000

Contribution Details

"Two and a Half Men" (2003) {Of Course He's Dead: Part 2 (#12.16)}
Episode Title / Number - Correct

Old -
Parent: "Two and a Half Men" (2003)
Title: Of Course He's Dead: Part 2
Number: 12.16

New -
Parent: "Two and a Half Men" (2003)
Title: Of Course He's Dead Part 1
Number: 12.15
Explanation: The series finale of "Two and a Half Men" aired as a single, double-length episode with one set of credits -- not two separate episodes as they are currently listed. See http://www.thefutoncritic.com/listings/20150205cbs09/. The actual title should be listed as "Of Course He's Dead - Part One and Part Two", but that should be corrected after the merger of episodes 12.15 and erroneous listing 12.16.

We will confirm with our policy team and make sure they are listed in the correct way.

@Bethanny Thanks, Bethanny.

While I admit that I don't have proof of how the episode originally aired, I note that the episode originally aired on Feb. 19, 2015. My submission to have it listed as one episode instead of two was #150220-030210-378000, which the staff can confirm. That means I submitted it the same night that the episode aired. I don't think I forgot how the episode originally aired in such a short time.

Also, I think the press at the time tended to describe it as one episode.

I think we're losing the focus here. Whether it is one episode or two parts episode is not the main issue, and there is no definate right or wrong answer.

The main issue here is there is no evidence to prove what is the correct order of the cast member from the original broadcast. No one has recorded or taken photoes when it was originally broadcasted. The only prove we have here is from replay or DVD, this is why I propose to seperate into 2 parts.

Bottom line is the order of the cast CANNOT be left as alphabetically as what is currently showing.

@sammypan

That is, however, not part of the IMDb guidelines on this issue.

The current cast in alphabetacal order is a significant breach of IMDb guideline because it is definetely not how the cast order either in original broadcast or replay.

@sammypan I think it would be more accurate to say that "no one you have identified has recorded or taken photos when it was originally broadcast." TiVo and other DVRs existed in 2015. I'm sure some people did record the episode and still have the original recording, but they haven't come forward to help with correcting the order of the credits.

It's been almost 9 years since the broadcast and I highly doubt this is going to happen. And I'm happy to merge if in the future someone did come out to provide the cast order. At the moment, it is better to separate into 2 episodes than one.

And my further doubt is it was created as 2 episodes originally, you're the one who requested to merge into 1. I don't know how it got approved at that time without evidence. But it needs to be rectified this time.

The episodes were added before the broadcast, so that doesn't tell us much about the broadcast. Gromit's edit may have been accepted because he is a reliable contributor.

Splitting into two episodes also has its own data problems. One of the episodes would have no ratings and reviews.

That's easy to solve, the rating and review can be copied to the 2nd episode.

Hi @sammypan & All -

I checked in with our policy team and confirmed that if there was no separation (ie. credit roll, title cards, etc..) in the middle of the first screening, then this would constitute a single episode listing, as opposed to being split into two episodes (despite how the show was split and aired in later screenings).

I also investigated further and found several media sources at the time of the episode's release that reported the airing as an hour long episode.

As per our policy, the episode should not be split in parts but should remain as a single episode listing on the site.
