Solved

Existing Marriage Details cannot be updated if spouse is listed in IMDb

Example: https://contribute.imdb.com/name/nm0692850/

Try to update the Marraige Details to show her date of death related to the marraige of Michael A. Ross.

Upon checking, the submission system reports the following, and you cannot continue.  This problem has existed for several days.

This item has been rejected. You need to correct this item before it will be accepted.

  • The name you are trying to add as spouse is already listed .

I'm trying to add extra information (end date of marriage) to existing entries, but I'm getting the error message "This item has been rejected. You need to correct this item before it will be accepted.

  • The name you are trying to add as spouse is already listed ."

This has happened for Gary Olsen (I) nm0647653 and Candy Davis nm0204306. It looks as if a correction of an existing entry is being treated by the form validation as if it were an addition of a new duplicate entry.

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Cannot correct spouse entries - eg to add extra information

Hi ron3 -

I just attempted to add new marriage details to the page of "Markie Post" and was unable to replicate the error you described.

Is this still occurring for you when attempting to submit a new spouse listing?

That is because instead of waiting for the problem to be seen here, I tackled it another way.

Here's another example of a saved update that cannot be completed:

210808-024222-192200

But any person with marriage data can be used to see the problem.  For example take Tom Cruise, and attempt to change the number of children for one of his marriages.  You cannot do it. (not that you should)

Hi ron3 -

Thanks for confirming the additional details (thanks also martin_695862 for your added report).  I was able to replicate the problem within the contribution form and have filed a ticket with the appropriate tech team to investigate further.

As soon as I have an update I will relay that information here.

Thanks again!

Hi ron3 & martin_695862 -

I'm just following up here to confirm that this issue has been fixed and you should now be able to submit data updates to Spouse information on the site.

Thanks again for reporting!
