Episodes credits

Is there an option to move one episode credits to other? I thought that what episode migrate is, where you can move all one episode credits, to another one, but i still don't know what it is or how it works. There is episodes with same credits, but i need to readd same credits by section everytime when i add new episode, where i could select to move all credits from other episode that is already added before

Hi ugnieska, If you want to move one or more credit from one episode to another you can do this by choosing to correct/delete credits, then check the 'Show title?' checkbox at the bottom of the form. Hit the 'Check these updates' button and then choose 'correct' via the dropdown next to the credit you wish to move. The title field will now be editable, allowing you to search for a different episode to add the credit to.

Note: This moves the credit, it does not copy it, so it will no longer be present on the original title you moved it from.

You can do this for multiple credits in one go if needed.

Hope this helps,

Mark

@Mark13 Thanks but this is not helpful, i know this. It's same thing what i do. I talk about copying credits from one episode to another, because sometimes there is 20 episodes or more with same credits, but i still need add same credits to every episode separately by sections. It takes so much time, where i could add credits to one episode, then copy those credits to other 20 episodes. That is how episode migrate should work

Ah ok, thanks ugnieska, I understand your use case better now.

Sadly what you want to do is not currently supported, but it is something I know the team have considered.

To help us explore this and determine what is feasible, can you confirm which of the below approaches would best meet you needs, or if neither is right, what solution you would prefer:

  1. After submitting a new episode with credits, ask you if you would like to add another episode with the same credits. If you say yes, create the episode with all credits populated and give you the opportunity to edit them and other episode data prior to submission.
  2. At the time of creating a new episode, provide an "import credits" button. When you click the button a list of other episodes within the same series is shown. When you select an episode, it's credits are imported to the form and you are given the opportunity to edit them and other episode data prior to submission.

Thanks,

Mark

Episode migrate copies credits from the series to an episode. I believe that this was introduced when episode support was added many years ago.

What you are looking for it a feature that currently does not exist. Having a way to copy all the credits from an existing episode would be useful if the copied credits had a yes or no like the one you get for episode migrate. Without that I think there would be too many cases where people just copy all the credits without checking them.

Copying a previous contribution would be an alternative but also needs the yes or no.

@Mark13 I think second option would work the best. I agree there could be random credits added, but i think it's not a problem. Because it's easier to remove few incorrect credits than add same credits to every episode individually.

What you can do is: once the episodes are added, add credits to multiple episodes at once.

@Peter_pbn I know this, i do this, but when every episode has 10+ credits to every section it takes so much time, because you still need to add names and occupations individually. Also you still need to know what credits you adding you can't add something random to future episodes, because credits can be different. Also where there is no knowledge how many episodes there will be. You can't add random episodes.

@Mark13 Also in the same topic, most series now are streaming series, but still when you create episode there is no option to choose where episode airs on tv or streaming, if tv it's automatically goes there, but if it's streaming you then need to go on the episode itself and change it on release date. When you create main title you can choose where it airs that should be option on episodes too. Also this list shows only tv episodes, not streaming episodes, it should show both because it's basically the same thing, tv show is tv show and this section should be updated https://www.imdb.com/calendar/?region=US&type=TV_EPISODE

Thanks for flagging this ugnieska!

If I understand correctly, there are two issues here:

  1. Inability to select 'On a streaming service (free or paid)' as the 'release type' when creating a new episode
  2. The Upcoming TV Episode Releases page filters to episodes with release type 'broadcast on TV', stopping you from seeing upcoming streaming titles

Is that correct?

If so, I'll raise tickets with the relevant teams to have these investigated.

Thanks,

Mark

Thanks @ugnieska, I've raised tickets with the relevant teams for both issues. And will update this thread when they respond.
