Episode numbers for a series that showed episodes under its "umbrella" title?
So there's a series, The Wednesday Play, and it's in a mess as there's purportedly 9 series (c. BFI) but it's just listed as one long one on the IMDb right now. Even the BBC don't have a proper episode guide.
I'd like to sort it out one day, but it needs a lot more research to get that done.
However, one issue is that not all of the episodes were originally The Wednesday Play, a number of them (quite a lot of them, actually) were kind of "The Wednesday Play presents..." as it would sometimes show a drama from a completely different series, repeating it under its "banner".
As an example: https://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/54598eb6885a4728b652dbc106368131
An episode of The Londoners that was repeated as a "Wednesday Play" afterwards, it rightly appears under The Londoners: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0496371/reference/
So the question that I've taken a long time to get round to... what about the episode NUMBERS for The Wednesday Play? The "showcase" episodes from other shows won't go under them, but they were still screened as part of the series. Should gaps be left in the numbering, and a trivia point added? For example:
1.
2.
3. Episode of the Londoners repeated under the banner
4.
5.
So is that 1,2,4,5, or does episode 4 become episode 3?

They could probably be listed as shell episodes
