Hello,

Could someone please tell me who has been responsible for the accuracy of the content listed on the IMDB pages? There are numerous typos, mis-spellings, bad grammar, anachronistic references, and other amateurish text and information spread across many pages. Who edits this information to make it correct, or is the standard going to continue to be at a grade school level? I lost count when the number of mistakes ran to more than 50. Does IMDB actually employ anyone with an English degree who could fix these things? Would IMDB be willing to hire someone to proofread and correct content? If so, I would be willing to do it.

Regards,

Hello Will -

In short, the information in IMDb comes from various sources and our data goes through consistency checks to ensure it's as accurate and reliable as possible.  For more information I encourage you to review the following Help Article.

In the meantime, can you clarify where specifically on the site you are seeing these grammatical errors (ie. Plots, User Reviews, Trivia, etc.)?

Poltergeist's trivia has two different actors portraying Bluto and multiple entries about the same thing including at least one that is contradictory ("facts" about the skeletons in the pool being real or fake), opinions/interjections that are from the writer that are superfluous and not part if the trivia itself. Also, if there are any run-on sentences like the previous one, they should be corrected.

@Michelle what is the process of these consistency checks? People featured in documentaries for example can, in some instances, only be listed if people like me watch and write these people down... the only way to check would be if imdb staff watches them too? ( example: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10316624/fullcredits/?ref_=tt_cl_sm )
