EDITING EXISTING BIO

I’m trying to update a biography and the interface is frustratingly cumbersome, confusing, and doesn’t allow to intersperse a variety of simple updates throughout the text.  To wit: a credit here and there, date/name changes, paragraph deletions or additions, etc.  It only seems to allow for a single item at a time and not several throughout.  It appears a replacement of the entire piece is the only remedy-- and that's not working either.  It seems that following standardized methods of edits are not allowed.  I’ve been a writer/editor for many years and I’ve never experienced anything quite like this.  Am I missing something or have I developed dementia?  What gives?
