Dropdown changes

I'm adding episodes to several series. The dropdown is helpful as I can pick the crew, as it will automatically fill that position, but some job titles have changed. I have to type in the new job title each time manually. How can IMDB update this in the dropdown?

I guess the "copy existing credits" feature lists the most frequent credit for the person in the selected season/year.

Another method is to add the episodes, then return later to add credits through the series page, where you can add the same credits to multiple episodes at the same time.

Currently, my workflow involves adding the episode first and then, once IMDb approves it, going back later to use the dropdown menus to add the cast and crew for that episode. However, I still need to update the crew members who were recently promoted. To streamline this process, I would like the new job titles to appear in the dropdown menu rather than manually typing them in for each episode.

Do you know if this is possible?

I think I have answered that.

But again, it might be more convenient to add the same credits to multiple episodes.

I didn’t fully understood the problem? If you add one episode (and the main actors/crew perhaps stays the same), you can then choose those people from the list.

@eboy Yes, that's right. The job titles remained unchanged until last month when some employees were promoted. As a result, I now have to manually enter the new job titles every time. Ideally, I would like to have these titles saved so that I can simply select them from a dropdown menu rather than typing them in each time.

There is no way that is ever going to happen as there are simply thousands upon thousands of occupations. If you are using a browser, most browsers will save what you most frequently input.

Also, in season promotions are rare so, in most case, when a person gets promoted, it's a new season and you can select that season to get the right occupation.

There was no change. See attached. I want to update the job titles to the "new occupation", but I have to do it on every entry. How can they change/be updated in this dropdown?

Well, the old job titles still the outnumber the new ones.

I imagine what you wish would require a change in the programming of the feature. Perhaps it should list all the previously used occupations, not just one per name.

I would not want the list to be any longer than it is already, especially for additional crew. Sorting by number of appearances as it currently does would also complicate matters. The entries for the same name would not be near each other.

If there were going to be changes my top priority would be to have the list sorted by name rather than number of appearances. That might not help other people.

A more radical change would be if the list was attached to the next empty slot and the job could be selected first filtering it down dynamically to people who have done that job.

Just a side note here, but per IMDb rules, all occupations should be lower case.

@adrian I saw this, and I will change it moving forward. But again, it will keep the existing in the drop down.

@owenrees I know. So at the end of the day there really isn't a fix for this until the next season or year, correct?
