In Progress

Dozens of Channel 4 companies in Great-Britain? I doubt!

When completing (a bit) of an obscure TV series aired in the UK by the ONE AND ONLY Channel 4 [uk], I was asked by the drop down what of many Channel 4 "companies" I wished to enter... Of course they are all the same. Plus, there is half a dozen more Channel 4 [us] that I suspect is just a branch of the British one, but I won't look that up now. Please merge the following "companies" into one: co0103747 Channel Four Film (GB) co0103532 Channel Four Films (GB) a subsidiary, the plural being the correct spelling co0290683 Channel 4 Television (GB) co0674378 Channel 4 News (GB) co0044785 Channel 4 International (GB) co0159436 Channel Four (GB) co0200324 Channel Four International (C4i) (GB) co0235537 Channel 4 DVD (GB) co0219181 Channel 4 Archive (GB) co0106289 Channel 4 Video (GB) co0706824 Channel 4 (GB) their master brand, not a company, and my favorite for simplicity and public knowledge co0103528 Channel 4 Television Corporation (GB) alias Channel Four Television Corporation, probably the best legal choice to be the recipient of the other DUPLICATE COMPANY FILES. Have a look: https://www.channel4.com/corporate/about-4/who-we-are/about-channel-4

You acknowledge that Channel Four Films was a subsidiary. I don't think it should be merged into its mother company. It is less clear whether it should be merged with its current name, Film4 Productions. Similarly, Channel Four International (C4i) is also a separate company, later name C4i Distribution. Here are some of IMDb's guidelines: Cases in which there should be more than one separate company pages: - When two companies are completely different companies and are not affiliated in any way. - When two companies are different but affiliated companies. For example, Lionsgate [US] (registered as Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.), is an American entertainment company, currently headquartered in Santa Monica, California. There is a different company called Lionsgate UK [GB], (formerly Redbus Film Distribution, and briefly known as Helkon SK between 2001 and 2003), which is a British subsidiary of Lionsgate [US].

«Cases in which there should be more than one separate company pages: - When two companies are completely different companies and are not affiliated in any way.» Some of the companies I mentioned may be LEGALLY different, but they are so deeply affiliated that they belong to the same company, government controlled, and submit consolidated accounts to the Parliament as ONE COMPANY ONLY.
