Downvoting on ‘Possession of Mara’

I am an Indie filmmaker (part time doctor to pursue my passion of making films) and my new film 'Possession of Mara' had its premiere on Oct 4 with audience of 300 people. We were doing amazingly well with good reviews.Malicious vote stuffing happened a week ago and I am devastated. Honestly I dont make money and keep spending my own money to make movies. Only hope is that there are people who like what I do and making a difference in people's lives through my films in this world. I am so depressed and even thoughts of never to make films again came in my head and kept looking for answers and found this thread. Thank you Angels and Spirits! I found this thread. I hope you guys can take care of this as soon as possible. These films are my lifework and art. Only thing keeps my art alive is IMDb reviews. With all this downvotes I will never be able to show anybody my imdb page, Thanks

Hi hassan_zee,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our voting system already detects and defeats attempts to stuff the ballot and skew the rating, as demonstrated by the difference between the weighted average and the arithmetic mean on the vast majority of titles in the database.

No its not solved. This is hurting distribution of my film and I wont be able to show my IMDb page to anyone. This is a big problem. I keep getting this robot messages which are unacceptable. Thanks

I am a paying client of IMDb and I am a professional filmmaker. Your response is very unprofessional that no immediate action might be taken on this. Imdb ratings and IMDb reviews are used to run our film business and distribution. I will have to talk to Col Needham about this. Also to my lawyer. Thanks for providing the reference number. There should be no DOWNVOTING on imdb. Its not a website like reddit or facebook. Imdb is supposed to be a professional website where people pay to enhance their marketing efforts in film business. Its not a social media website to trash films. Please think about it. I have been on imdb for more than 20 years.

Please Remove all the 1 rating and all downvoting on my film "Possession of Mara" reviews. Its malicious and vote stuffing to damage reputation of my film. I send thousand of emails to my followers with my IMDb reviews. I cant do that with this malicious activity on my IMDb film page. It needs to be taken care of very soon. Thanks

Our team looked into this report (ref. #D356543982) and found no evidence of organized or coordinated ratings abuse. To provide a possible explanation for your title's rating, please refer to our Ratings FAQ, specifically:

The rating on my title has suddenly dropped from 9 to 2. Something must be off. Is your system broken?

It's not uncommon for initial ratings to start high and then go down after a brief period of time. Movies or other titles with a relatively low total number of ratings (less than a hundred) are particularly susceptible to substantial changes in the weighted rating.

When a title only has a few ratings, it doesn't take many more subsequent ratings for the rating to change.
