In Progress

Does “stop-motion” refer to anything other than “stop-motion-animation”?

Should “stop-motion” (1275 titles) be merged  into “stop-motion-animation” (2383 title)?

There’s “freeze-frame,” but that’s a completely different thing.

One title even has “motion-stop” as a keyword, whatever that means.

Perhaps there are sci-fi titles like The Day the Earth Stood Still that would seem to need a keyword like “motion-comes-to-a-stop."

What do you think?

Hi bradley_kent-

After further reviewing, the "stop-motion" keyword has been changed to "stop-motion-animation." The changes will be live on the site shortly.

Cheers!

Thank you so much.  You are an oasis of reason in a desert of “genre” irrationality. Thank you.

completely disappeared as a keyword! And as an interest group. This involves thousands of titles. What happened? Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation Link : https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/stopmotionanimation-seems-to-have/69a0f55d8bb3b7785a81ba90 Title : stop-motion-animation seems to have

The titles currently seem to be under stop-motion-animation-animation.

I had suggested a merger of “stop-motion” into “stop-motion-animation.”  Looks like the merger was made incorrectly.

Can the cumbersome “stop-motion-animation-animation” be changed to “stop-motion-animation”?

Also, it should be a subgenre rather than a plot keyword.

@bradley_kent This was a mistake on our part, sorry, and it has been escalated to the appropriate team to undo the damage to the keywords (and thereby fix the empty Interest page).

Before this mistake, there were 2383 titles with the “stop-motion-animation” keyword and 1275 titles with the incorrect “stop-motion” keyword.

Some of the ‘’stop-motion-animation” titles also had “stop motion” as a keyword, and vice versa.

Now, there are 2111 titles with the “stop-motion-animation” keyword.

Does this mean that 272 titles that previously had the “stop-motion-animation” keyword have gone missing?

The number of missing titles may be even larger than that since some previous titles with the “stop-motion” keyword would need correction to the “stop-motion-animation” keyword.

@bradley_kent

I suspect the fix is ongoing. I see 590 titles under stop-motion-animation-animation that are not under stop-motion-animation.

In addition, I think some related keywords were affected. There are around 60 titles each under part-stop-motion-animation and part-stop-motion-animation-animation.

Hopefully, you’re right.  Correcting the 596 “stop-motion-animation-animation” keywords to “stop-motion-animation” could solve the problem, although I am sure there are some titles who currently have both of these keywords.
