Does every single attempt to remove a keyword automatically trigger an "unable to verify"?

There's some odd glaring keyword inaccuracies sprawled across this site. Each time I have attempted to remove some truly obvious ones, and provided a reason for why in the explanation, it just gets an "unable to verify" response.

The answer to your question in your post title is "no." The vast majority of my keyword deletions are approved automatically (within minutes).

Perhaps if you posted examples we could explain what might be going on with the rejections of your keyword edits.

@keyword_expert There's not much to say. It's literally just me attempting to remove "dystopia" from Mayans MC (an outlaw biker TV series), and Billy the Kid (a biographical western TV series).

These are not dystopian TV shows. The deletion attempt speaks for itself. You obviously are more trusted than I am when it comes to the system.

@Skavau I agree with you that "dystopia" should not be on those titles.

I just deleted that keyword from Billy the Kid and the edit went through in 30 seconds. (It may still show up on the site for a little while, but my contribution was approved.)

Interestingly, on Mayans M.C., I was able to delete two other keywords within seconds, but my edit removing "dystopia" has been put into "pending" status, suggesting that this one will require manual review.

@Skavau p.s. Here's one theory as to what might be going on with "dystopia" on Mayans M.C.: this could be a case where a "keyword war" is going on, where one contributor keeps adding the keyword and another contributor keeps deleting it. Sometimes in those cases a particular keyword (or an entire title) is "protected" from further deletion.

A good example of an entire title that has "protected" keywords is Caligula (1979). I have no idea why that particular title has protected keywords, but it definitely does (or to be exact, it did the last time I checked).

The system obviously has different layers of trust. I can now add keywords and they get approved instantly, but deletions are different entirely at the moment. They just all get denied. The "dystopia" section is an absolute mess by the way.

Except for some additions. I am holding until I find out what happens with my attempt to add "healing drama" to the system. It's a subgenre of drama, mostly korean, highly connected to psychological drama and romance.

@keyword_expert This is why IMDB really just needs an upvote/downvote system for the site when it comes to keywords. You can still 'protect' or block keywords from being added in the rare instances of multi-account abuse, or a weird persistent user.

@keyword_expert I am now attempting to remove "dystopia" from Samurai Jack. It's in queue. I expect it'll get thrown out again tomorrow.

But man, who on earth tagged Samurai Jack as "dystopia"? The system has no protection for utterly wild and bizarre tagging like this.

@Skavau My removal of the keyword "dystopia" from Mayans M.C. has been approved.
