Doctor Who (2023-) is being highly review bombed by transphobes, homophobes, and racists
Doctor Who has been bombarded with negative reviews some of which are from people who have admitted to not watching the series (Nerderotic) and sends more far right subscribers to down vote the new series. The new series has included one trans character on one episode, a black main character, and more controversially a drag queen as a villain (they are angered by having a drag queen in the series, not by the fact that they are a villain).
These 1 star ratings are just too unreasonable. The new page for Doctor Who does not have as many of the old fan's ratings to combat the review bombing. The people who leave 1 star ratings are generally not leaving any reviews as their reasoning in the reviews are racist. Please if you people can, find some way to counter act the review bombing on Doctor Who! Or else the show will drown out to a 6.0 by people who have not watched any of it

Hmm.
Very messed up voting distribution.
Even removing the 1s (and the equally unlikely high number of 10s) it's STILL a messed up distribution, with more 9, 8, 2 than 4, 5, 6.
I get an average of 6.3 excluding the 1s and 10s. IMDb's weighting algorithm usually knocks titles down by +- 0.3 points, so 6.5 seems like a more than reasonable rating for this show... although again, the distribution is WEIRD even with the 10s and 1s removed...

We are aware that there are people who may vote for the sole purpose of trying to inflate/deflate the rating for a movie. We have several safeguards in place to automatically detect and defeat this type of ballot stuffing: even though we count and display all unaltered votes in the rating breakdown, we apply several countermeasures against all attempts to skew the rating for the weighted rating you see displayed on the site. We will review the title in question to ensure that the weighted average is displaying as intended.

I feel like this is another reason why a separate IMDb page for the “reboot” was a bad idea. As you say without the the positive reviews from the 2005-2022 series page, the score is so low.
If the new season was just added as series 14 to the original listing then the review bombing wouldn’t be as much of an issue

When unusual voting activity is detected, a different weighting calculation may be applied in order to preserve the reliability of our system.
