Distributors' upcoming releases

I noticed a problem on Box Office Mojo's Domestic Release Schedule by Distributor at https://www.boxofficemojo.com/calendar/by_distributor/ .

Among the major film distributors in the U.S., Warner Bros. is listed with 26 upcoming releases, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures with 24, Sony Pictures Releasing with 11, Universal Pictures with 16 (plus one for Universal Pictures International) ... and Paramount Pictures International supposedly has 963 upcoming releases.

The number for Paramount seems a bit high. I would be surprised if Paramount releases 963 films in the next 50 years, so I'm skeptical that the studio has that many films on its release schedule now.

I wonder if perhaps Paramount is being credited with all the films on its past release schedule that are listed in Box Office Mojo (which would cover the last 45 years or so) as being upcoming releases?

Hi @gromit82,

Thank you for reporting this.

I've filed a ticket (ref. #D383720076) with the relevant team to review this error. Once I receive any updates on a fix, I'll add them here.

Cheers!

Hi gromit82 -

I'm following up to confirm that Paramount provides detailed future release dates for each film across all countries, so this comprehensive data is included on the Domestic Release Schedule By Distributor

calendar, resulting in a much higher count than other distributors.

I hope this helps!

@Michelle I still think there may be a problem here.

To take the next Paramount release on the schedule, suppose we are talking about Whitney Springs at https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl1365409793/ (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt17042980/).

Am I correct in saying that if Paramount provides release dates for Whitney Springs not only for the USA, but also Mexico, Brazil, UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and India, that counts as 10 releases? And does that explain how it is that Paramount now has 1,041 upcoming releases listed at https://www.boxofficemojo.com/calendar/by_distributor/?

If so, only one of those 10 releases should count. That's because https://www.boxofficemojo.com/calendar/by_distributor/ is titled Domestic Release Schedule By Distributor. The "domestic" market for Box Office Mojo is just the USA and Canada -- not all the other countries of the world.* You can't count releases in the UK, France, etc. toward the Domestic Release Schedule.

*Yes, I am well aware that for British people, the UK is their own "domestic" market. But I'm going by what the rest of Box Office Mojo says -- "domestic" is the USA and Canada, "international" is the rest of the world, and "worldwide" is domestic plus international, that is, the whole world.
