Disappointing handling of verified information – loss of motivation to contribute

Dear IMDb Team, I have recently submitted a correction regarding the late actress Wanda Perdelwitz, whose tragic passing has been widely covered by every major German news outlet. Despite including a direct link to her Wikipedia entry and the abundance of easily verifiable press reports, my submission was rejected with the explanation that the information could not be verified. Ironically, the IMDb page has now been updated anyway – but with an incorrect date of death. Ms. Perdelwitz suffered her accident on September 28, 2025, yet she passed away on October 9, 2025, as confirmed by numerous reputable sources. It is both frustrating and disheartening to see such inaccuracies remain uncorrected, especially when contributors provide verified and well-documented information. This kind of handling unfortunately discourages people like me from continuing to support and improve IMDb’s data accuracy in the future. I sincerely hope the team will reconsider how verified user submissions are treated, as the credibility of IMDb depends on both editorial diligence and contributor engagement. Kind regards, Vritra

Hello Vritra Can you post the 18-digits submission reference number for the contribution? in order to take a look for you! You can find the submission number in your Contribution History page: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/contribution-information/contribution-history/G2BYV38VYPXM5L4F?ref_=helpsrall#

The submission was rejected because we do not consider Wikipedia a trusted source of evidence as mentioned in our Biographical Guidelines: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/names-biographical-data/biographical-data-guidelines/GMT9T242VQADZUQM?ref_=helpsrall#birthdeath If the date is incorrect, and you can provide evidence confirmed from a reputable source, I encourage you to re submit and provide the links with valid evidence for us to verify.

I did it that way, but I still find it odd that when practically every media outlet in Germany has reported the death of this very well-known personality, a link to Wikipedia is considered a problem and leads to rejection. The IMDb reviewers could have verified this within seconds without any difficulty.

As mentioned in the Guidelines: We do not consider Wikipedia (or other collaboratively edited wiki-style sites) to be an acceptable source for birth dates. However, many Wikipedia articles include online citations and external links which provide supporting evidence of the subject's birth date, and these are often appropriate URLs to include in your submission. You can re submit with other evidence for us to verify.
