Difference between the Musical and Music genres

Hi,

In IMDb, I see films that are tagged with the "Music" genre, while other films are tagged to the "Musical" genre.
What is the difference between the Musical and Music genres? If there is no difference, so what is the reason of having two different names to the same genre?

Best Regards,
Nadeem Bader

Hi Nadeem,

The definition of the Musical genre is

"Should contain several scenes of characters burstinginto song aimed at the viewer (this excludes songs performed for the enjoymentof other characters that may be viewing) while the rest of the time, usuallybut not exclusively, portraying a narrative that alludes to another Genre."

Please note:
The Musical genre is not to be added for titles that are simply music related or have musicperformances in them; e.g., pop concerts do not apply. Also, classical opera, since it is entirely musical, does not apply and should instead be treated asMusic.

The Music genre is also used for music videos.

Hope this helps!
