Answered

delete, make uncredited or leave alone

What is the correct way to handle this situation?

I have seen some listings that have credits for people but neither the beginning or end credits feature them, for example, in the stunt section.

If the end credits are usually very diligent in including various roles, what is the best practice for people listed in the section who are not mentioned in the episode credits?

There seem to be at least 3 options:-

  1. Leave it untouched
  2. Delete it
  3. Convert it to uncredited

Is there a preferred IMDB solution?

Leyland: If a person is listed on IMDb as credited (that is, with no (uncredited) attribute), yet the person is not listed in the credits of the film at all, my recommendation would be to request deletion of that person's entry for that film. To me, it makes no difference whether "the end credits are very diligent in including various roles" or not.

The logic for this is as follows:

  • You know that the person was not credited. So "leave it untouched" would not be the correct option.
  • You don't know that the person worked on the film in an uncredited job. The person might not have worked on the film at all. So "convert it to uncredited" would not be preferable.
  • Suppose you submit a request to "delete it", and the entry is deleted. If the person really worked on the film in an uncredited job, then they can always come back and re-submit their credit correctly with an (uncredited) attribute.
  • It is better for IMDb to omit an uncredited person than to incorrectlly include a person who didn't actually work on the film.

After 35 years of IMDb, I think the message is starting to get through that if a person worked on a film but their name was omitted from the credits, they must be (uncredited) -- and thus it is incorrect to submit the person's listing to IMDb with no attribute. We need to continue to promote this message.

Not my impression.

It doesn't really answer the question with regard to stunts or other crew, but with regard to cast there are these guidelines:

  • If the role exists in a title but there is no onscreen credit, and the actor playing the role is easily identifiable onscreen, then the (uncredited) attribute should be added. IMPORTANT: In this situation, do NOT delete the existing credit.

  • If the role does not exist (i.e. the actor/character does not appear at any point in the title), then please submit a deletion, but only if you are absolutely certain that the credit is incorrect.
