Current credits appearing under Self

Here's a whole other scenario I've discovered on my IMDb actor profile.

I'd wondered why my newer 2023 credits were listed under the Self category near the bottom, when they are all more recent.

This creates a huge problem with me, as they should be listed under my Film, Commercial, and TV credits.  Yet they're not.  My one agent

emailed me about this too, wondering what happened.

Do you need me to proved all tracking numbers to look into this? 🤔🤔

I've reached out to Support about this previously, with no results.

Went to add a newer TV/streaming credit recently, which appeared in the titles "drop list".  Yet it's nowhere found in my actor credits.  What the heck...
My profile is missing two other more recent 2023 credits also, so this is not some weird coincidence.  Do you Support have an answer for me?  Because this gets annoying as heck or frustrating when we're paying for the premium/Pro.  Taking the time to update viable credits, esp for our agents, but then seeing nothing.

Thanks!

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Credit not appearing on my profile

Nettiegurl: Please post your last full data submission here on this message board. You can copy it out of the receipt you would have received from IMDb by e-mail immediately after sending it in. Some of the regulars on the board may review it and, if they can, they may provide suggestions as to how to improve the submission to get it included in the database. (Also, please include the submission reference number -- it's an 18-digit number that will look something like 240123-123456-789000.)

Just saw some "updates" hear the bottom of my profile ... under Self.  Instead of under TV and Film credits by some error.  Guess I need to go in individually and correct/update each one, so they get removed from Self and relisted as 2023 TV/film credits.

Did you wish for me to provide all of the tracking numbers?   There are over eight.

@nettiegurl16 I am mostly concerned with getting your data submission -- the content of what you submitted to IMDb. The reason to provide the tracking numbers is that the IMDb staff can deal with them. However, if you provide the data submission content, then the regular contributors here can try to help you.

If you prefer, just provide for now (a) your most recent data submission that went wrong and (b) the tracking number of that submission. With that, we should be able to make some progress. If I or another contributor can figure out the problem, you might then be able to fix the other submissions yourself.

Sorry for the delay. Had lots of submission 'receipts' to pill through.  Did you need me to copy/paste each of them here?  Looks like more than 5 or 6 from the episode updates I did a week ago.

@nettiegurl16 Hi! You can either give us your submission references or link your name page and tell us which of the credits are showing incorrectly, in any case staff will be happy to take a look into it.

Cheers!

Hello Bethany,

Sorry for the delay.  Here is the link to my profile page https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm8879713/credits.

When you scroll to the bottom, you'll see what I'm referencing under the Self section.

I took the liberty months ago to rename or correct the character/role attributes, submitting those successfully.  But they're still appearing as Self verified instead of Actor credits.

Nettiegurl: Looking at the Self credits on your Pro page at https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm8879713/credits, here is the list of what you have there:

  • Terror at the Haunt (2023) (TV Special) - Cue Witch
  • The Haunt 2023 (2023) (TV Special) - Asylum Warden
  • The Haunt: Nights of Evil (TV Commercial) (2023) (TV Special) - Cue Mutant
  • The Haunt (2021) (TV Special) - Cue Line / Theme Controller
  • You've Got to Be Kidding Me America (TV Series) - Self (2 episodes, 2010)
  • Meijer (TV Special) - Self

First of all, I have to ask: For The Haunt (2021), The Haunt 2023 (2023), and Terror at the Haunt (2023), are those actually TV specials, or are they live haunted house attractions, as implied by https://the-haunt.com/, in which you performed live for the visitors/spectators?

A live performance would not be eligible for listing in IMDb as a title. (You can list your work in live performances in the "Other works" section of IMDb, and/or in the self-verified "Additional Credits" section of your IMDbPro page.)

In any event, a "TV special" on IMDb is presumed to be nonfiction with all the performers appearing as themselves, unless specifically indicated otherwise. Hence those credits are normally assigned to a person's "Self" section. I'm doubtful that the above titles were TV works at all, but if they were, they probably were not "TV specials" as IMDb defines them.

(Edited to add: Actually, I see that in a discussion here last year, you commented, "The “haunted attraction” (The haunt) is an eligible credit, as it was a locally aired TV commercial or promo I was involved." However, your TV commercials need to be entered as TV commercials into IMDb by formatting their titles and adding keywords as such, not as TV specials; see the following paragraphs.)

Second, you have a TV commercial credit for The Haunt: Nights of Evil (TV Commercial), but its title is misformatted. As indicated at https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/title-formatting/G56U5ERK7YY47CQB#, a TV commercial's title should be formatted as follows:

Commercials
Brand: Title of advert if known (year) (V) i.e. Chanel N°5: The One That I Want (2014) (V)
Please submit as Made for Video

Please add the keywords: commercial, the brand i.e. chanel-no.-5

So that title would need a Title Correction to be:

The Haunt: Nights of Evil (2023) (V)

The title should also have the keywords commercial and the-haunt. The existing keyword tv-special should be removed. These changes would make it no longer a TV special and thus no longer assigned to your Self section.

I'm skipping over "You've Got to Be Kidding Me America" since I don't know enough about it to know how it should be listed.

Finally, you have a TV special listed titled Meijer but with no clear indication of when it was released or by whom. It has the News genre, so I'm assuming that it wasn't a commercial for the Meijer grocery store chain, but it's listed as being produced by The Meijer Foundation, which makes it sound more like advertising than news. Please provide further details about this production so we can figure out how it should be listed.

Hi, and thanks for the feedback :)

The following bulleted items were actual filmed segments by local news/media coverage in which I was featured in the special appearances.

When I'd listed them as credits, I understood they were to be titled as TV specials and/or commercials as they were both broadcast live, and made for video or online streaming at production, if that helps.

  • Terror at the Haunt (2023) (TV Special) - Cue Witch  (broadcast live and streaming)
  • The Haunt 2023 (2023) (TV Special) - Asylum Warden (broadcast live and streaming)
  • The Haunt: Nights of Evil (TV Commercial) (2023) (TV Special) - Cue Mutant (streaming)
  • The Haunt (2021) (TV Special) - Cue Line / Theme Controller
  • (broadcast live and streaming)

Most are still showing on my Pro page at the bottom under Self credits, when they were all character roles I played. Hence the actual names I changed the credits to, for clarity.  But they're still showing under the Self category, so I'm going to try to remove them accordingly.

Hopefully other contributors here or the staff can advise you about how these titles should be listed, because I am not sure what kind of programming they were.

Good luck!
