Credited for work I didn't do, delete credit request declined over and over

Hi all!

I have been trying over and over to remove a credit that was falsely attributed to me without my permission. It was for a no-budget film that I acted in. I am credited as a sound editor because I made some temp sound early in its edit, but the final product has absolutely nothing to do with me. There are no contracts, no deal memos, no agreements, or anything that show I agreed to be credited in this manner. It's frustrating to me because I feel like this no-budget filmmaker just wanted to pad out the credits. I keep getting declinations, first "unable to verify", then "more evidence needed", then "factually incorrect". Sure, the filmmaker did put my name down but in no way did I ask for work I didn't do to be on my profile forever. How can I approach this?

Hi @alexef -

Since your name was credited on-screen we cannot remove the credit, as per our policy.  However, if you did not perform the role of "Sound Editor" you can submit a credit correction to include the attribute "credit only" which indicates that while you were credited, you did not perform the role.

I hope this helps.

Hi @alexef,

Please could you provide us with the 18-digit submission reference for your most recent deletion request, so I can look into this for you. You can find this in your Contribution History.

However please bear in mind, if you are credited on-screen or acted in/performed a crew role for this title, we cannot remove this credit from your IMDb page as per our relevant policies. Our aim is to be the most complete and reliable source of movie, TV, and entertainment information on the web. In order to continue offering our users an accurate and trustworthy service, we will not alter or delete any kind of correct/factual information from our records.

Thanks!

I would like to emphasize that I was not the sound editor, it's not an accurate credit and it was attributed to me without my permission.
