Credit Errors don't belong in Crazy Credits

I've found two Crazy Credits that don't qualify as valid per IMDb guidelines.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0609136/crazycredits

Although the credits list her character name as 'Cindy,' Farrah Fawcett is twice referred to as 'Tina' by Roger, the same girlfriend she played in See You in C-U-B-A (4 November 1969) four episodes before this one.

The first is an error in the credits: that belongs in Goofs (either type Miscellaneous or it could even be a Character Error if the credit is correct), and I copied it there and requested deletion of the Crazy Credit in the same submission 230105-045907-552000.

A moment before the credits roll on the episode, Jeannie and Tony kiss and as it fades to black, Larry Hagman looks directly at the camera, trying not to laugh.

The second is an actor blooper (a type of goof, usually Revealing Mistake) that happens just BEFORE the closing credits, and has nothing to do with any credits at all. I copied this to Goofs as well and requested deletion of the Crazy Credit in the same submission 230105-210738-121000.

Both deletions were Declined. The 2nd absolutely doesn't belong in Crazy Credits as it isn't a credit, the first is a credit error (or a character error goof) and the guidelines are very clear that it doesn't belong in Crazy Credits.

Pays to read the guidelines first. I learned that the hard way when I submitted a bunch of credit errors under Crazy Credits and they were all declined. Now I know, so I can remove others'. These should be approved.

@Bethanny Here's another one: 230109-050238-456000.

They keep getting declined for the reason "Does not meet contribution guidelines". I'm asking for the item's deletion BECAUSE it doesn't meet IMDb's guidelines. Credit errors clearly do not belong in Crazy Credits. It says so right in the guidelines. So why are my deletion requests being denied?

I've already copied the items to Goofs or Trivia as appropriate. They need to be deleted in Crazy Credits. They shouldn't be declined; I shouldn't have to ask you to do it every time.

@Mvybuf Hey!

Resubmitted on your behalf and approved. I have also talked to our editors about it so you don't have further issues with it :)

Cheers!

@Bethanny According to the "Goof" guidelines, character errors in the Cast list don't belong there either.

"B. Unacceptable Goofs

...

  • Character names: Credits with character names not actually used in the film are not goofs."

It appears that the only place to put them is Trivia.

@david_glagovsky I wonder what that guideline is referring to exactly. "Character names not used in the film" - that doesn't sound like an error. An error would be a different spelling or a different name altogether than the one used in the film. I would think those would be valid goofs.

I think what that rule is referring to is cases where a character is never named in the film but gets a name in the closing credits. That's not a mistake, so not a goof.

Clear mistakes in the credits would be goofs. Though if I were running IMDb, I'd put them in Crazy Credits - but I would rename the section: there's nothing crazy about a mistake.

@Mvybuf You may be correct. I just wish the guidelines were more specific with examples.

@Mvybuf  An excellent point, although I would say that as it was exactly what I thought about a wrong name.

I have to accept the moderator’s answer, though, as the submission guidelines for goofs actually say “This is not the place to record errors in the credits, …”

Moderator decisions are already random enough, with an extraordinary number overturned when challenged. I suspect adding a grey area would only make this worse.

No, the Crazy Credits guidelines say that, and they link to the goofs page as if to say the errors belong as goofs.

@Peter_pbn My error. Comes, I think, from switching between several almost identical-looking pages of densely-typed text.

sadly, for all its merits, IMDb is not the prettiest or most intuitive site to use.
