Creation of titles for recreation of existing properties?

I just saw this on the IMDb, the Doctor Who story "The Abominable Snowman" as its own entry: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21397968/reference/

Originally, of course, part of https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056751/reference/

A lot of the 1960s episodes of the show were wiped by the BBC, and only exist in soundtrack form. To make some £££ they've started animating the soundtracks. So it's not a "new" show per se, it's just (quite poor) animation over the original audio.

Surely that should just go in "alternate versions" of the existing property?

There doesn't appear to be a title for every animation yet, so it's not consistent, either.

Hi @MovieCat -

I received an answer from our policy team today. Please check our guidelines on this.

Basically if it's a new animated work as mentioned by @mbmb , it meets every criteria for adding a new title and the only matching thing is the original audio it is eligible for a separate listing.

Hope this clarifies the situation.

Cheers!

Hi @MovieCat -

I have made the consultation to our policy team to decide how we should list these.

I will let you know as soon as I have an answer.

Cheers!

I don't think there's anything wrong here and I don't think it's appropriate to just use "alternate versions" page for it. They create a new animated work based on it after all. It's a different visual work. They should be able to get their own pages.

The archive sound attribute could probably be used for the original voices.
