Country North Macedonia is missing

Clematt: It does exist on IMDb, but you will find it in the alphabetical lists under "R" for "Republic of Macedonia". 

Since the country changed its name three years ago, it ought to be listed under "N" for "North Macedonia" now.

Hopefully the IMDb staff will see this discussion and implement the change.

Thanks for reporting this. A ticket has now been filed to the appropriate team in charge to request the change of the country listed as Republic of Macedonia (former) to North Macedonia.

After revision on the ticket that was reported, I can confirm that the country listed as "Republic of Macedonia" (former) has been modified. The country is now listed with its official name under "Republic of North Macedonia" and the changes are already live on the site.

Thank you for the reports and the changes that need to be updated across all areas! I have requested the correction of "Republic of North Macedonia" to "North Macedonia," as well as, the rest of the additional changes that need to be made.

Maya: I think this needs a follow-up. I do see that on film pages such as https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8991268/ the country of origin is listed as "North Macedonia" as it should be.

However, I see three other ways in which the country name has not been fixed yet:

1. In a search such as https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?country_of_origin=mk the results page says "Republic of North Macedonia (Sorted by Popularity Ascending)". Note the unnecessary "Republic of" here. By contrast, a search at https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?country_of_origin=se says "Sweden (Sorted by Popularity Ascending)", as it should, not "Kingdom of Sweden".

2. Of more concern, the country now commonly known as "North Macedonia" is still listed on the Advanced Title Search page at https://www.imdb.com/search/title/ as "Republic of Macedonia" -- not only omitting the "North", but being alphabetized under R instead of N, or even M.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, we would not want to alphabetize Sweden under "K" for "Kingdom of Sweden", nor Israel under "S" for "State of Israel". 

The country now listed as "Republic of Macedonia" should be moved on the Advanced Title Search page to "North Macedonia" and be alphabetized under N.

3. On the country codes page at https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/other-submission-guides/country-codes/G99K4LFRMSC37DCN# it says:

mk Macedonia, The Former Yugoslav Republic of

Because this list is alphabetized by country (not by code), the entry should instead say:

mk North Macedonia

and be alphabetized under N instead of M.
