Countries an attribute for a release date? #2

On this title: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5125616/releaseinfo I saw there is a release date for the country Germany with the attribute Germany. Via the edit page I find the attribute Germany is currently attached to 20 release dates. Can a staffer please look into this and fix this (and block Germany as an attribute)?

I (rather randomly) checked some other countries and France (attached to 106 release dates), Portugal (7), Poland (15), Nairobi (6), Netherlands (3), Sweden (24), United Kingdom (17), United States (78), United states (1), Belgium (22) and Spain (75) are also currently attributes for release dates. Can these be checked and corrected as well please?

Or am I missing something here and is there or can there be a good reason to have a country as an attribute for release dates?

(I had to re-post this issue because staff doesn't read all posts made by their customers. OP: https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/countries-an-attribute-for-a-release-date/5fd4d055990dc97e9ddf50e3)

Maybe there ought to be a special process for creating new attributes of release dates. I've only ever created one, and it was for an obscure film festival. I had plans to post a thread concerning the attributes "(http:)" and "(https:)", among others, but I simply haven't gotten around to doing it. I took care to delete three or four YouTube URLs present as release date attributes, instating them in the external sites section of the corresponding IMDb title entries.

Years and years ago, IMDb stated that first time contributors couldn't submit dates of death because it can be very painful if a mistake is made in that area. I'm not a hundred percent sure if that's still the case, but maybe a certain threshold of contributions can be created for creating new attributes. Not only to release dates, but to all areas of the database that have attributes. It would hardly hinder, because most needed attributes are of course already listed, but it would probably cut down a bit on newly created ones that shouldn't have been added.

Hey Marco - you're absolutely right. These attributes shouldn't be on release dates.

The bad news is I can't block countries as release date attributes. Also, as you know staff don't make corrections that can be made my contributors. However I can promise that I'll help you get these through.

Any submissions to remove these incorrect attributes that are rejected please @ reply me here with the submission references and I will push them through.

But some of these corrections cannot be made by contributors, because IMDb non-staff have no way to find out which pages have items with particular attributes.

Thanks a bunch for the reply Grayson, but Jeorj is right. I don't know of any way to search for specific titles with specific attributes.

Hey  - so this isn't something I know how to do but I am reaching out to our data experts to see if they can build a query for this. If it's possible I'll do the work.

Whether it can or can't be done I will get in touch to let you know.

Oh, can you perhaps ask them if it would - in the future - be possible to search within attributes from the search page: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/ ?

Hi @Marco -

Sorry for the delayed response, I am working with the tech team to see if we can block them, and for now will be cleaning up the titles that have those attributes. Will let you know when I have any updates.

Cheers!
