Corrections to existing series credits that should have had episodic credits

On many occasions I've tried to correct a credit that is in the wrong department by deleting the current credit and creating a new identical credit in the proper department, and it usually works fine. It doesn't work, however, when the original wrong credit has been grandfathered in so that it currently exists as an incorrect series credit that never got attached to an individual episode. 99% of the time I have absolutely no idea of which episode(s), if any exist at all, that the credit would belong to and the software won't allow the shifting of the credit, even though it is existing and a 'new' credit is not being added. If you try to add a date in the attribute field and click the various "Warning understood, go ahead anyway" boxes, you can go through about three of these steps and you are finally stopped for good. (I can show you these steps if needed).

So, we are left with no way to correct these grandfathered wrong credits. I would suggest, if possible, that along with the various warnings, a checkbox is included with something like:  If this is merely a correction or a move from one department to another, click here. This would then bypass the existing blocks and allow the existing grandfathered data to be corrected/transferred.

Here's a concrete example of what I mean:

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1820154/?ref_=fn_nm_nm_1#producer

Under her producer credits are two 'script producer' credits which belong in the Script and Continuity Department. But...no episodes are given for her credits; they are episode-less series credits. These cannot be added in the Script Department (try it) so that they might be deleted in the Producer Department. There are no doubt many thousands of credits like this, adding to an overall inconsistency in the database. This is why I proposed some sort of checkbox that would allow this kind of transfer-only new record to be entered.

I would never advise adding an episode just to hang the credit on, unless you are actually getting solid info from watching the episode, or maybe a reference. You can actually add a series level credit in the somewhat rare case that there aren't any episodes at all. You have to click two or three successive warning acknowledged checkboxes but eventually the software reluctantly accepts it. I have no idea how hard it would be to code in a workaround somewhat like I suggested, but it would solve the problem and the data would be able to be corrected to provide more accuracy and consistency.
