Contributor is listed for plot summary but not synopsis

When I look at the plot info for an entry (e.g., Killing Eve, season 3, episodes 5 and 7), the identity of the contributor of the summary is shown, but not the contributor of the synopsis (who is a different person, namely me).

Why is the contributor of the synopsis not shown?

Hi alan_winson -

To help clarify, the "Plot Synopsis" does not include an author byline, whereas both the "Plot Summary" and "Plot Outline" sections do include the author by-line; this is why your name is not recorded beneath the synopsis' for these episodes.

I hope this helps!

@Michelle But why is that, I think that's the question of the OP. Why is there no by-line for plot synopsis? I believe it is because IMDb feels those are often collaborations between several people, given the length of a synopsis, but I'm not sure.

Hi @Marco -

Yes, that is correct, unlike a Plot Outline and Plot Summary, a Plot Synopsis should be a detailed description of the entire plot (including spoilers), so users who haven't seen a movie or missed an episode of a TV series can read everything about the title.

As the purpose of this feature is to include exclusive details of the story of the film/show,  it is beneficial for multiple contributors to contribute to this section and including a 'by line' would not be relevant in this case.

In the meantime, I have modified this thread to an "Idea" post for staff visibility in the event that others feel a 'by line' would be useful, other community members can then vote on this request.

Cheers!

The previous, wiki-style version of the synopsis feature did include credit for contributors, so I don't see why it wouldn't be relevant now.

Thanks Michelle, that's what I thought.
