contribution interface failure - 3 in a row

I decided to add (plenty) of data on a movie I saw a few  days ago.

I went through my usual, lifelong procedure, feeling in dozens of crew and companies names for the movie, then pressed Save, and received an almost blank page:

«Updating information for Movie Title / Continue»

Pressing the blue button Continue leads me to a new blank interface, all the previous data entered by me is gone.

Patiently, I've retried, twice, and thus lost a day's work, and my patience.

I'm almost hating the movie I had found so funny.

Because, twice more, the same has happened.

The data I had managed to «save for later» before these incidents is still there, waiting for me to complete it.

But... SHALL I?

What is happening today to our communications?

Today (Oct 30) the trouble persists! The faulty template has contribution number 201030-085443-369200

Did the form possibly move any credits from one department to another as in this report from earlier this year?

No.

The two bottom buttons give us an option to Re-Check, or Save for Later. I understand that the data we added on the interface is sent to IMDb, and then sent back to us (if we're rec-checking; that's the phase in which some data may have changed departments, that's no problem at all with me, I'm an "old hand" at this),

or - we're given a page with a contribution number, so we pick the process at a later time where we were.

The fault I'm complaining is that, instead of this page, there's another with no contribution number, and a blue button that says "Continue". Example shown below.

Great, ah?! So I press the button, and I'm given a fresh new interface page WITH NO DATA, to start from scratch.

Actually no, because I was sure it had not been saved before.

What you see there, in My History, concerning the same movie, is another contribution of mine in relation to Cast credits only, still going alright.

Nothing to do with my complaint of yesterday.

Sorry, I only checked the link on your post today.

Yes, it is the same problem, exactly. Note that Alex (the poster you linked to) is not complain of any problem with credits being moved from one department to another, but them being «wiped off» the update interface page, without he (us) being able to save them.

I know that IMDb contributors are advised to save their «work in progress» from time to time, but it has happened to me BEFORE I had time to do so, or exactly when I pressed the Save For Later. And THAT, does not give us a chance!

Hi artemis_9 -

I'm sorry to hear that you have repeatedly lost all your recent submission data for "Bad Investigate", I'm not certain why this has happened, however, it can occur when a browser times out.

To avoid any future losses of data entry within a submission where you are entering a large amount of data, I would encourage you to try entering the data in smaller separate batch submissions.

Let us know if this works better for you!

@Michelle

Thank you for the suggestion. I tend to consider a hundred items of data in a row not to be  a big deal, but yes, it is time consuming, and Google has from some months now, the new mania of stopping operations (cutting links?) at 15 seconds of attempting to locate a site.   :-((

Like the smart 3 months old chimp I am, I've already started doing as you suggest, and managed to add some data already to that movie.

I was afraid it could be a technical fault on your side, or the interface itself. Let's hope not.

Thank you for your suggestion. I had Firefox before, and when I changed computers, I gave a chance to Google Chrome, but after a couple of years it seems to be less reliable in several ways.

I'll check further on your suggestion, now I'm in a hurry.

The problem persists! And I'm afraid it is REALLY something to do with IMDb interface to upload Miscellaneous companies.

Slowly, I've completed the addition of all the cast and crew members to [tt6610280].

Everything was accepted by IMDb, except the additional companies entries, and those are the ones that - at several attempts - are wiped off both in the Re-check, or the Save for later, actions. When getting back to the page, the companies' names have been wiped off, not so their role (in this case, «special thanks», and their order number (in this case, 37 and onwards).

Is there some (hopefully temporary malfunction) at IMDb?

Is there a new limit to companies addition? (I know it's up to 20, but I've been adding more than that for years, in different contributions, of course.)

My suspicion, and other contributors in this thread too, about Google being the culprit for "timing out tabs" does not apply. As I narrowed down my attempts to just 3 or 4 company names, it's a matter of a minute or less.

I have no patience left to return to this title, so I'm leaving this film alone as is. But I sure would like to know what causes this sort of refusal at the contribution interface for companies.
