Confusion in the Display

I am actually at the profile of "Larry King" (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005092/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t9) who quite often played himself in several movies and TV Series. But most of that appearances are not to find as "Himself" as they are listed as the role "Larry King".

In the past it was much easier to find such appearances when TV/Movie Roles, Self & Archive Footage were all part of the same list. It might have been neccessary to shorten the listings (at least for a load of profiles) but IF they are handled now as three different categories, then "Larry King" playing "Larry King" is not a role but should be moved to the "Self"-Category (and there are several so called "roles")

There is a distinction between Larry King being on TV in a talk show and playing himself in a work of fiction.

IMDb chose that playing yourself in a work of fiction should be listed as acting and not in the self category.

The more questionable part is that they chose to do it by changing on-screen character names, which means you can't trust IMDb to reflect the actual credited character description.
