Confusion about Pete the Dog/Pete the Pup

There are at least three different name pages on IMDb for "Pete the Dog/Pup", the name given to one or more dogs best known for starring in Hal Roach's Little Rascals shorts. What little information I'm finding about these dog(s) is contradictory and sparse, but according to Wikipedia there were two dogs known as Pete the Pup, the first one active from 1924-1930 and the second active from 1929-1938. This claim is not sourced in the article. A later statement in the article, which does provide a source, is more vague:

Roach used a number of unrelated dogs to portray Pete in Our Gang until 1938.

Unfortunately, the source is a book I don't have access to.

Anyway, none of the three Pete the Pup names on IMDb seem to be separated in any logical fashion. For instance, they all have credits both before and after 1930, which is the supposed year when the dogs were switched out.

It is unclear to me whether these name pages should be combined, or split up between two names (one from 1924-1929, one from 1930-1938).

Pete the Pup (I) [IMDb name #nm2944131] - 27 credits, ranging from 1925-1938. Biographical information is scant.

Pete the Pup (II) [IMDb name #nm6430698] - Three credits from 1927-1930. Biographical information is scant.

The Wonder Dog Pal (1925-1930) [IMDb name #nm11782246] - 25 credits, from 1926-1929. Biography on IMDb states he is the "father of the second Pete the Dog" and links to the first Pete the Dog (1929-1946) page, referenced above.
