Conflation of two actors: a deceased Canadian and me both named Michael Wade. How can this be corrected?

I am an English actor named Michael Wade. On your actors listings you have a Canadian Michael Wade who died in 2004. Several of the credits attributed to him are actually my credits, including Lockwood, the lead character in the 'Auton' trilogy, which you say he is best known for! Also 'Cash in Hand', 'A Dance to the Music of Time', 'Thin Ice', 'A Man For All Seasons', and 'Programa do Jô' are mine. Listed under Other Works, The 'Vortigern' credit is also mine and I have other screen credits, two of which are for 2015, that I would like to give you, as well as many for Other Works. I have tried to fill in your online forms, but they are too complicated for me to understand and I keep having to start all over again. Could you please help me rectify this situation and set up my own IMDb listing? I have been in touch with Wikipedia as they have the same errors and they are looking into it. Most of the credits wrongly attributed to the Canadian Michael Wade can easily be verified as mine by viewing my showreel on: www.vimeo.com/michaelwade  or by googling 'Jô Soares Michael Wade'. Jô Soares is the great Brazilian chat show host, so most of the interview is in Portuguese, but it does show some of my work. I look forward to your reply. Sincerely, Michael Wade.

All done Champion! For Brighton Belles, after several rejections because I hadn't discovered how IMDb lists the episodes I eventually got it right  - The Break-In (#2.2) but the first time I did the update I forgot to insert the name of my character (Mark), not realising that it goes in the same (character) box as the episode, but it was not rejected. When I realised my omission I did it again, this time inserting Mark in the box and it also was not rejected.I hope this won't cause confusion.

Provided this all goes through alright I think I'll call it a day! I wish I could buy you lunch, but I suspect we're on different continents. Yours most gratefully, Michael.

Michael: I am going to go ahead and submit the correction for your "Brighton Belles" character name, because it looks like something went wrong along the way. Right now you are listed as playing a character named "The Break-In (#2.2)" rather than "Mark".

Here is what should have happened for submitting your credit for that episode, which you will need to know if you have any other TV episode credits. You would go to the episode list for the series (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105961/episodes?year=1994), find your episode, and click on that. That would take you to the episode page, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0945726/. You would then click "Edit page".

On the next screen, you would select "Add 1 credit" on the Cast line, scroll down and click "Continue".

And that will take you to a page that looks something like this:

Notice that at the top of the page, it already identifies the episode to which you are adding a credit (Updating Information for "Brighton Belles" (1993) {The Break-In (#2.2)}). So you don't need to type that episode title or episode number again anywhere in the submission. Instead, you just have to insert the actor's name, the character name, the attribute (if applicable), and the order number (if known), just as if you were adding an actor credit to a movie.

But as I said, I will submit the correction to change your character name to "Mark" myself.

Fortunately, it looks like your credits for The Great Dome RobberyEl pasado, and Pequeno segredo have been added correctly. So, if you have other credits to add later, hopefully you should be able to get those taken care of.

If you find that you need to add a program that is not listed in the database at all, that can be done, using the form which begins at https://contribute.imdb.com/updates?update=title and continues on succeeding screens. But I would recommend gathering together as much information you can about the program before you start to work on that form. You can always come back here and ask about that when you need to.

Good luck!

Champion. Once again many thanks! I've just looked myself up and we're nearly there, but the 'My Hindu Friend' Dr Feffer credit has not appeared yet, though I'm sure I did it correctly when I requested it to be merged from the Michael Wade XVI page. Similarly, the 'England My England' Lord Clifford credit still hasn't been merged from the Michael John Wade page. I suppose these take a bit longer so I'll wait and see. I haven't had a reply from Karl Francis yet but I can add those credits on later if I get the right info. Yours, Michael.

Dear Champoin. Thanks for correcting Brighton Belles. My Hindu Friend and England my England are at last on my page. Karl Francis has not replied so I'll let that one go. One last thing. Am I right in thinking that if my name appears against my character's when credits roll at the end of a film, even if it doesn't appear with the leads at the beginning, then that's a credit? Because I'm sure my name does appear at the end of A Man For All Seasons. It's a detail but as it's such an important film it irks me! But I will check. Sincerely, Michael.

MW, I'll try to take a tiny bit of the load off gromit82, who has helped me often. Yes, if the credit appears on screen, that's all you need -- doesn't matter if it's at the beginning, at the end, in the middle, upside down, in purple, etc. If you worked on a film but did not get credit on screen, you can still get added on IMDb, but the procedure is more complicated.

OK Edward. On the IMDb cast list for A Man For All Seasons it says I and many othres are uncredited. I'll check that my credit does indeed appear on the DVD and then get it corrected on IMDb. Thanks so much. MW.

Michael: Yes, Edward has it correct -- whether your name appears in the opening credits or the closing credits, that would still count as credited rather than uncredited.

I notice another issue with the credits of A Man for All Seasons. At http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060665/fullcredits you will see that there are two different "Michael Wade"s listed as playing 2nd servant / 2nd Young Man -- yourself and Michael Wade (III), whose other credits can be seen at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0905484/.

Assuming that Michael Wade (III) has nothing to do with you, you should be able to delete his credit from A Man for All Seasons by doing the following:

Go to the page for the film at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060665/. Click "Edit page".

On the next screen, on the Cast line, select "Correct/Delete". Scroll down and click "Continue".

On the next screen, select "Delete" in the menu to the left of the incorrect person, Michael Wade (III). Click "Check these updates".

On the next screen, you will be asked to provide an explanation. You can write something like "I am Michael Wade (I), and I played the role of 2nd servant/2nd Young Man in "A Man for All Seasons". I am already listed in the cast list for the film as playing the role, but there is a duplicate entry in the cast list which says that Michael Wade (III) played the role as well. The role of 2nd servant/2nd Young Man was played only by Michael Wade (I), and thus the credit for Michael Wade (III) should be deleted for the same role." Click "Re-check these updates".

On the next screen, your data should appear with a green background, and you should be able to click "Submit these updates".

By the way, I have never seen A Man for All Seasons, but I probably should. Mark R. Leeper, an Internet critic I respect, ranks it as one of his favorite films of all time.

In any event, I'm glad to see that your other credits have gotten on to your page. If you ever get enough information to try to submit the Karl Francis project to IMDb, and you need help with that, I would recommend starting a separate thread here. That would be a fairly different issue from the problem that you were dealing with at the start of this thread.

Good luck!

Dear Champion. Many thanks again. I will certainly correct the M For All S double credit but before I do I want to borrow or buy the DVD and check the end credits because I'm not certain that they describe my two parts in that way. I strongly recommend it. I saw it on TV recently and it has hardly aged. It was a great privilege to.be in it. Vanessa Redgrave wanted to be in it so much that even she accepted a non-speaking part. Very best regards. Michael.
