Completion date for revised and remastered film?
I’m in a a quandary regarding the actual completion date of my digitally remastered film Downsizing of the Gods [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9821462/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1].
Although the original footage was shot in 2004, technology has moved forward while society seems to have regressed. Recent developments at Disney and tech llayoffs have rendered the film far more topical than it was when it was shot.
ATM there is the provisional date of 2019 in IMDB, but the director feels that the credit should actually be: “Original Film ©2004. Revised and Digitally Remastered Version © 2024.”
Whatever you recommend, I will update the IMDB entry accordingly.
Many thanks for your attention to this First World Issue.
HISTORY
2004:
* Original Footage [5x4 video] Shot in 5x4 1080PM and edited in Final Cut Pro 5.5
* Two non-commercial New York screenings.
2017-2018:
* We discovered Final Cut Pro 5.5 was not editable in any subsequent Apple FCP release. Individual segments had to be exported to Avid at substantial expense.
* Aspect ratio changed to 16x9.
* New editor cut 10 minutes out of the 27-minute film.
* Graphics designer created new opening sequence.
* Soundtrack remastered by a professional sound engineer.
* End credits revised.
* New editor created a 2:24 Trailer.
2019-2020:
* Final tweaks made to Film and Trailer.
* Submissions made to various Film Festivals (Six Awards/Finalists in A-/B+ Festivals, 11 Selections).
2023: New Opening Crawl created and inserted into Trailer and Film.
2024:
* Newer Opening Crawl created and and inserted into Trailer and Film.
* Film and Trailer uprezzed to 4K, enhanced and sharpened.

Tamasher: First of all, the copyright date will not necessarily correspond to the year in parentheses after the title on IMDb. Those are two separate issues.
Second, for dealing with the year in parentheses after the title, IMDb will need to know when, where, and how the film was released. (The production and post-production issues won't factor into that.) Currently there are no release dates listed for this film at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9821462/releaseinfo/ .
Specifically, what information can you provide about the "two noncommercial New York screenings" in 2004? The film might wind up with (2004) as the year in parentheses based on those.
Also, what film festivals did the film screen at, and when? If the film won awards at film festivals in 2019, then the year in parentheses will not be later than 2019 (it might be 2004 depending on the nature of the 2004 screenings).
I hope this helps.
