Clarification of guidelines for cast self credits of people introduced by spoken name

One of the items in my contribution https://contribute.imdb.com/contribution/240928-204528-066000 was declined:

ACTOR ADDITION

Davies, Greg (IV) Self - Terms and Conditions 38

Cast end credits are on pages 1 to 2. Pages 30 to 51 show when people were name on-screen or announced by the narrator or a host.

https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/cast-acting-credits-guidelines/GH3JZC74FVYKKFMD?ref_=helpart_nav_5# says:

  • For documentaries or talk shows where the people appearing on camera are generally not in a separate cast list, their first onscreen appearance where they are identified either by a caption or spoken name is used to determine the order. Any narrator/host listed in opening or closing credits or the title itself would be treated as the first cast member, and would precede people identified only within the documentary or talk show.

Page 48 of the PDF submitted as evidence - screenshots of all the end credits, on-screen captions naming people, subtitled where people are introduced by spoken name - is this screenshot:

Please explain which contribution guideline this does not meet - it seems to me to be covered by the section of the guideline quoted above. That is fairly far down a long page and the case does not seem to be covered by other pages for cast credits and order numbers so perhaps common wording or links between the page are needed.

I have submitted the credit again -https://contribute.imdb.com/contribution/240929-203936-219000 - this time with the guideline paragraph quoted above included in the explanation.

If the series continues as it did last season there will be eleven more episodes this season with a credit of this kind so I would like to know if the future credits will be eligible and if so what evidence is needed for them before I spend more time capturing screenshots to include in the evidence with the credit.

Perhaps "Terms and Conditions" needs explanation. I see that it is a description of the segment. I guess it is not entirely clear what the description should be.

If that is the issue then corrections are needed for half the episodes of the last few seasons.

The next episode will be on Saturday and there will be another credit of this kind to be added. After the scores for the first dance have been given, Claudia will introduce a celebrity by spoken name as they emerge through the glittery curtain to read the terms and conditions for voting. The name will be different as will the order with one couple eliminated but the role will be the same.

I would like a clear statement of how that should be credited before then.

All four of the series I focus on have just started a new season so I have more than enough to do without having to guess what is wrong with a declined credit and try again.

Hi @owenrees -

This was a processing error, I can see it is now approved and live.

Cheers!

The credit that is live does not have an order number. Both my original submission and the resubmission have an order number - 38 - based on the introduction by spoken name by a host that shows up in the subtitles. The number is 38 because he was introduced after the 3 names in the end credits and the other people introduced by spoken name - 4 judges, 15 couples making a total of 37.

It is clear that someone else has also added cast. There are three names that I did not add that do not have order numbers nor are they '(uncredited)' and are listed only as 'Self'. Given the lack of order number it seems likely that the live credit was from that other contributor.

My second submission was declined as a duplicate - presumably as a duplicate of the contribution from someone else - despite the difference.

That takes us back to my original question. My original submission was declined "Does not meet contribution guidelines". The credit that is live does not have an order number. Is that the issue? If so, what makes this credit different from the ones with order numbers 4 to 37 who were all introduced by spoken name.

I thought I was following the guidelines in adding order numbers for people introduced by spoken name in this episode but if they should not have order numbers the guidelines need to be clarified to explain for which kind of series/episode the spoken name rule does not apply.

@owenrees Hi!

As mentioned, first rejection was a processing error, which has now been reported. Since the second was added around the same time as yours it was accepted first and then yours declined as a duplicate. I have now added the order number since it's valid and it's live on the site.

Cheers!

Thanks. There will be another one like that to add on Saturday so I wanted to be sure I was doing it right.
