Changes needed for Middle English title...

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32085850/episodes/

One of the most complicated tasks I've had to do, as they kept repeating episodes throughout the runs... I've had get an Excel spreadsheet and a subscription to the TV Times archive to work it all out. But the IMDb is worth it.

Anyway, there are some instances where episodes were created as standalone titles on the IMDb and have since been integrated. Or created as a single entry when there was more than one episode.

What this means is that the "alternate title" is left on the episodes when not needed, namely:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2580122 - This was created as a single title (I assume because it was repeated as an omnibus edit in another series a year later, and released on DVD in that format.) As it's two episodes, the first one now has "Mr Magus Is Waiting for You (1986)" as the main title, with "Mr Magus Is Waiting for You: Part One (original title)". It just needs to be called Mr Magus Is Waiting for You: Part One.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1173221 - The same situation. This was created as a single title, whereas it's three episodes. It just needs to be called A Game of Soldiers: Part One

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2203078 - Just needs to be Interference: Episode 2

So, on this topic, there's another of these "standalone" titles out there. I believe this one may have been created by the person who stars in it, as they're credited with the plot outline: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0393325/reference/

This is an episode of Middle English: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt33477732

The only thing giving me pause when it comes to requesting a merge is the odd runtime on it - 26 minutes. The Middle English episode is online and it's just 20: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gqy-sEUOfj0

@Bethanny Thank you Bethanny. I'm up to season 12 now, with some episodes having been repeated over half a dozen times. I've got an Excel spreadsheet to work it all out.

One of the three-part stories was later used as a condensed episode of Dramarama: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13103636/reference/

As it's repeated material repackaged, I've just left it as a "shell" episode. However, it's different in that it's trimmed down in duration. Should I add full credits for it? All movie connections are done.

Hi @MovieCat -

It sounds like you have a very organized and thorough process for all these corrections, we appreciate it!

Concerning your question about adding credits to the "shell" episode, these types of episodes should be devoid of any cast and crew credits.  Instead, shell episodes should typically include:

  • Trivia item indicating the episode is a rebroadcast (e.g. "This episode is a rebroadcast of [xyz].")
  • A "Features" Movie Connection
  • Release date for the episode airdate
  • Genre & Keywords

If there is no new content or significant changes, as I understand the episode was just edited down, the listing can remain as a shell.

I hope this helps!

@Michelle I found I had no choice, Michelle, it started to give me a headache. :)

I've now really gone down a rabbit hole as some early episodes were also shell episode repeats of two earlier series which didn't exist on the IMDb: Writers' Workshop and About Books.

@Bethanny The three removals of "alternate titles" - I submitted these via the form and they've yet to be updated.

(Actually, I see this was only a week ago... it feels like I've been doing this forever.)

Hi @MovieCat -

For these 'alternate title' deletions, can you post the related 18-digit submission reference numbers here for our staff to take a look?

@Michelle Hi Michelle, I had to do these via the contact form rather than a submission.
