Cast List - What Does This Mean?

Occasionally, when I search the cast list of a particular show, rather than the expected

"John Doe      Bob"

I'll see something like:

"John Doe      Bob (as John Doe)"

What does this mean?

Thanks,

James

It means the person was credited on screen under a different name than the primary name on IMDb.

If the "as" attribute is the same as the persons name (be careful as some differences are hard to spot on first glance), it's likely because the name was changed or merged.

@adrian Thanks, but I still don't follow.

If Actor John Doe plays a character named "Bob", then how, under any circumstances can the character named "Bob" be "as John Doe"?

It's not. The "as" attribute goes with the actor. You usually see things like John Doe "as John B. Doe"
