Cantonese-language films with Mandarin-language transliterations as primary titles.

Sometimes it accepts my correction, sometimes not.  I don't understand it.  This is a case of transliteration.  It would be unusual for a transliterated title to appear on a title screen except in the rare cases when a film is marketed by a transliterated title, which seems more common in Japanese films such as Uzumaki.  I did a similar switch with Lost Souls (1989) just last night, and it was accepted. The Cantonese title was moved to the primary title, and the Mandarin title was moved to the akas section.  I think part of the problem may be the mandatory inclusion of attributes.  Often I find myself giving it an attribute that doesn't really fit because there simply aren't better options available. 240408-064445-968000  I had a friend in college who was of Hong Kong descent who would get mad if you used the Mandarin transliteration of a Hong Kong film title and accuse you of being political.  Ironically, she never learned to read Chinese script because her dad thought it was necessary to teach only the boys, so she couldn't be a help. There are tons of films in IMDB that are made in Cantonese but have the Mandarin title as primary.  I have enough familarity to make educated guesses when I see them if a title looks Mandarin, but I am not remotely fluent.  Now that there is a converter at hongkongvision.com, it should be much easier to obtain Cantonese transliterations.

Hi @scott_l1zxrc3yyo2sw, I can confirm the correction in the submission you've referenced above was declined as a duplicate, as you were attempting to correct an alternative title that was already listed. I hope this helps!

@Ozzy No, I was trying to change the current primary title to an alternastive title and add a new primary title.

Hi @scott_l1zxrc3yyo2sw, The addition of a new primary title was approved, however the correction you tried to make was a processed as a duplicate. Upon further review, I can see that were fields missing for this language item that needed filling to affect the display logic for the title page. This has now been completed with the title displaying. I hope this helps!

@Ozzy It looks like it's been made primary title. Thanks!
