Can we make changes to the IMDB cast and crew contribution feature with website link evidence to prevent credit vandalism.

To the IMDB staff and IMDB users.

Lately I've noticed for about 3 years now that some of the IMDB pages like Shimajiro and the Rainbow Oasis were vandalized with fake mislabeled actors and crew members. The same thing happened with the 2010s Doraemon film pages. I was able to clean up most of the Pororo the Penguin credit pages.

With that said. Here's my idea to prevent incorrect credits.

We could do what the film website Kinorium does. When you contribute on Kinorium they require and ask you to verify the website evidence source link in order to prevent incorrect credits from appearing on their website.

In the future when we contribute credits to the IMDB pages. Can we change the IMDB contribution system and make it, so the IMDB users and IMDB Pro user has to be required to click on the box, "Provide an explanation to assist in processing this submission"

and provide website URL link evidence to the IMDB staff members for every cast or crew member and also for every company credit they submit?

Then that way, the staff members can fact check and make sure it is actually from an official website source and not some random actor or crew member to be incorrectly mislabeled. I want to put a stop to the fake credit misinformation vandalism. I don't want any more IMDB pages vandalized with fake off topic credits. We need the contribution pages to be fact checked.

Oh, and yes, the user cannot submit Wikipedia or Fandom website links since they are not reliable sources.

Let me know what the IMDB staff members think. I think we need to change the way users will be able to contribute and make sure they are not submitting false information to the IMDB film, and video game pages.

Do you know how onerous that would be to people that regularly contribute credits? I do not want to have to provide screenshots for the 20,000+ additions I make a month.

@adrian The post didn't say anything about providing screenshots, but rather providing links to other sources on the Internet.

Actually, I didn't say anything about screenshots. What I was trying to say and show you in the screenshot is that in the "Provide an explanation to assist in processing this submission" box.

The IMDB staff should in their IMDB update consider making it a requirement to provide website URL link evidence which is relevant to the actors or crew members or company names. Then that way people who contribute credit names online will need to explain where they are getting their website link source information to confirm it.

That's what I was explaining in my idea. Let me know if you like my idea or not.

agreed with adrian. it's hard enough to add credits already imo.
