Can films untag themselves from news articles and/or remove them from their news listings?

Hi Bethanny, thanks for your reply. The film in question is "On Swift Horses" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15042300/). I can't remember all the articles in question, just that the number went down all of sudden, which also seemed to coincide with a slight shift in the film's marketing emphasis (although there admittedly hasn't been a huge amount of marketing so far as it's still in post-production). I had wondered why some articles which had tagged members of the cast and crew did not seem to have tagged the film itself, although it's possible they never had in the first place, which is why I had wondered if a project can withhold approval of being tagged in a news article, or if it's outside their control? I'm not involved with the project myself, I'm just following it as I read the book it was based on and was interested in seeing the adaptation. So given what you're saying, does that mean that someone working on behalf of a film does not have the ability to remove articles from that film's list after all? I was just curious about why the number of news articles was limited in general, despite news on the film appearing on other IMDb pages, and why it had suddenly gone down, and had thought those involved with the film who were handling this might have made that decision, but it seems it's not actually up to them? Thanks again for any insights.

@aquamarine_​ Unfortunately without the articles it is difficult to track what happened, do you remember any at all? And that is correct, we only remove if there is an error. Cheers!

@Bethanny​ Hi Bethanny, thanks again, sorry about the delay in getting back to your reply. I have been trying to remember the articles but the only one I am clear about is a Collider one (https://collider.com/diego-calva-daisy-edgar-jones-will-poulter-cast-on-swift-horses/) although it does seem it's actually not linked on the cast's IMDb pages either. The reason I am confident that it was once on the film's own news page once is that it seems the news page was actually archived on the Internet Archive on the day the film was announced (https://web.archive.org/web/20230228200731/https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15042300/news/) whereas now the film's page doesn't list it when you scroll down to the end of the page (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15042300/news/ ). It's not that the article itself was anything special or unusual, I was just curious about why this film had had news appear and then disappear on its news page, and if that was a sign that the film's team wanted to manage what did and didn't appear (I'm not criticising them if they did want to, I was just wondering). I understand what you are saying that IMDb itself doesn't delete things. I also wanted to ask, when you say "we", you mean people who work for IMDb itself, is that right? I wondered because I thought some project information was sometimes entered by people working for films and shows, as well as information that IMDb's own staff enter, so I wondered if it was the filmmakers who were choosing what to keep and what not to keep. Also, I've noticed for many films in pre-production that the cast will be listed in order of who is highest on the IMDb Starmeter, so the billing can vary from week to week until the film is released and the billing is finalised, but on this film they have fixed the order so certain actors are always credited in a specific order, in this case Daisy Edgar-Jones is always listed first, whatever the Starmeter is that week. Is that something that filmmakers have the option to do on IMDb Pro, to fix the listing of the cast order, and not leave it to the Starmeter? I'm talking about pre-production specifically, as opposed to the final billing order confirmed when a film is released and which is then reflected on IMDb.

Hi @aquamarine_​ - To clarify, any community staff mention of "we" refers to IMDb staff, and the display of data on IMDb is solely determined by IMDb staff. Upon investigating, I can confirm that "Collider" is no longer a news partner, so if there were articles displayed on the title page from this source, this is likely why the news articles were removed and can no longer be found under the IMDb news section. Concerning your question about the cast credits, I can see that there are cast orders applying to this title, since Daisy Edgar-Jones is credited with the first order, this is why her name always displays at the top of the cast list.  For more information about cast credit order and how they display you can review our Help Guide.
