All the releases IMDb lists are in 1972 or later, including one for Uruguay in November 72. Your information seems a little unlikely and would probably require evidence.

Evidence not available, just my memory. The maiden voyage of the RRS Bransfield on the way to the British Antarctic Territories stopped at Montevideo for 12 hours overnight in January 1971. A bunch of us saw Cabaret in a cinema, it was subtitled, before spending the rest of the night in various bars. Not the sort of experience you tend to forget really...
