Bug in Field Browser

The field browser was changed so that it would open in the season of the series that you were editing. This was a great change and seems to work with all newer series. However, it doesn't work for older series and I have no idea why. For example, I'm watching season 3 of Maude and instead of the browser opening to season 3, it opens to Year 1978. It would be helpful if this could be fixed.
