Bombay Dreams (2002)

This entire page needs to be modified.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1661198/

A film was never produced, and there is no full professionally shot version of the show. All information (date, photos, cast) in the page is from the original West End theatrical production.

However, there is a behind the scenes documentary called Salaam Bombay Dreams that has interviews, professionally shot footage of the show and other special features. Here is a link to an Amazon listing:

https://www.amazon.com/Salaam-Bombay-Dreams-Andrew-Webber/dp/B00024I19Q

Description: The documentary Salaam "Bombay Dreams" provides the background behind Bombay Dreams, the Andrew Lloyd Webber-produced musical that stormed London and Broadway stages in 2002 and 2004. Lloyd Webber recounts how he became entranced by the vigorous energy and hypnotic music of India's "Bollywood" musicals, and other members of the creative team, such as composer A.R. Rahman and director Steven Pimlott (but none of the actors), discuss the genesis of the show. The 90-minute main program doesn't have a lot of on-stage footage, but there's plenty of scenes from rehearsals as well as a workshop from when the musical was in its earliest stages. There are also additional performances and music videos among the bonus features, as well as extended interview segments and other featurettes. At a total running time of over four hours, Salaam "Bombay Dreams" is itself about as long as a Bollywood musical, but it's separated into manageable chunks and will be of interest to fans of the show or anyone who wants to see how a stage musical comes together. --David Horiuchi

I think the IMDB listing should be updated to reflect this instead, if it's not deleted entirely.

Well, the photos on the IMDb page match those on

http://bombaydreams.com/?utm_source=alw&utm_medium=widget

The release date matches the Wikipedia entry for the original stage production (although the page above says 3 days earlier). Is there a British equivalent to ibdb.com (Broadway database)?

The cast listed on the IMDb page seems to match the original West End cast (although I didn't check very far down the list).

No runtime on the IMDb entry.

No indication that it was on TV (as perhaps a commercial for the show might be).

I can't imagine this should be on IMDb. I suspect there was no film of or about this show that premiered on 19Jun2002.

On the other hand, the Salaam "Bombay Dreams" video would qualify. But without a copy of the screen credits, not much can be entered into IMDb.

Thanks for that information. I agree, I think the page should just be removed.

I have the DVD with the credits. I am new to these forums, would you mind advising on how I could get incorrect page removed and the new one for the documentary added? Thank you!

Getting things removed from IMDb is incredibly difficult.

We'd need more research about the West End show.

To add the dvd:

I see.

Thank you! In your opinion, would it be easier to just take the existing page and modify it to match it up to the documentary rather than having it removed?

I really appreciate your help!!

To what extend does the cast/crew match?

I'd be surprised if all the West End cast are credited onscreen in the documentary.

The release years don't match.

The title types don't match.

The titles don't match.

No, I don't think changing the existing title will be easier than removing it.

Yes, good points. The cast is there but mostly in archival/music video type features. They're not interviewed or credited (the end just says "Special thanks to the cast and crew of "Bombay Dreams").

Thanks again for your replies, this is very helpful! I will see if I can go about adding this as a new page.
