Blackadder Listings

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know the history behind why the four seasons of Blackadder are all listed as separate shows on IMDb? Why are they not seasons of one show. It has been this way for as long as I can remember so just wondering why this is the case.

Hi jon_832 -

Are you referring o the following title listings:

Blackadder

Blackadder II

Blackadder the Third

Blackadder Goes Fourth

I'm not familiar with the series, however, if the seasons followed in sequence under the "Blackadder" series banner, then they should be listed under a single series title with the season titles listed as Alternate titles, ie. "Blackadder the Third" (third season title), "Blackadder Goes Forth" (fourth season title).

Can you confirm if these listings were all different seasons of the same series?

@Michelle

Thanks for your response, those are the series I was referring to. As Peter mentions below, it appears there has been some side discussions about it, and it appears that there might be view to have it as separate series rather than seasons of a single show. Not quite sure why it is viewed this way, perhaps there is somebody else who can provide a definitive answer? Personally I think it makes sense to have them all listed as one show, but as I mentioned, it has been that way for as long as I have been editing IMDb (about 15 years!) so it seems that it should be left unless there is a consensus to change it.

Hi @jon_832 -

Based on the other community thread Peter mentioned where these title's have already been discussed, it seems best to leave these standalone title listings as-is.

If the titles were released as independent sequel series and marketed as such at the original time of release, they would qualify to be listed separately  as opposed to be listed as a single anthology series.

FYI: In this reply about the Prime Suspect listings, Will said, "In this case we have the titles correctly listed as independent mini-series to align with how they were marketed and viewed on their original release as sequels, not as new seasons much like the Blackadder example."
