Belgian certificates

I have noticed that in IMDB are listed four belgian ratings: Tous, KT, 16, KNT.  Really, in Belgium there are only two ratings: "KT/EA" (all ages) and "KNT/ENA" (16 years and over). Pratically, KT and KNT are used in the Flanders and EA and ENA are used in Wallonia. However, the Commission is  only one, therefore the ratings are two and not four. Is it possible to merge "Tous" and "KT" into "KT/EA" and "KNT" and "16" into "KNT/ENA"?

Hi AquilaTonante,

I have filed a ticket with our data editors to investigate this. Do you have any evidence available that will support this and help our data editors in their investigation?

Thanks

Hi Meredith,

The rating system in Belgium is ruled by the Law Vandervelde of 1920 (http://darkness-fanzine.over-blog.com/2016/12/en-2017-la-belgique-devrait-classer-les-films-en-fonct...). The classifications are established by a Commission, that can rate a movie for All Ages or only for 16 years and over. The first classification is indicated as EA in french (Enfants Admis) or KT (Kinderen Toegelaten). The second classification is indicated as ENA (Enfants Non Admis) or KNT (Kinderen Niet Toegelaten). The Commission, following the source posted up, depending on the year, was Inter-community or federal. Since 2007 the commission is under the Federal State competence. So, this matter is federal, the commission is one only and the ratings only two, indicated with different terms depending on the language. In this source, concernings a  proposal of law, it is possible to see that the matter is the same for the dutch and french communities (https://www.senate.be/www/?MIval=/publications/viewPubSplit&TID=50344783&LANG=fr). Pratically, the rating is the same for each communities, but indicated with different terms in Wallonia and in the Flanders.

Hi Meredith, is it possible make these changes? I have found another source, this University thesis (written in the Dutch language)  makes explicit reference to the KT/EA and KNT/ENA labels (http://lib.ugent.be/fulltxt/RUG01/002/064/043/RUG01-002064043_2013_0001_AC.pdf)

Hi, after other 3 weeks I have not received any anwer. I don't understand if my proposal was rejected or it has not yet been analyzed... Beyond the sources that I have already posted, in the State Archives of Belgium it is possible to see that there is only a difference of language between the rating labels (KT/ KNT and EA/ENA) and not a difference of content (http://arch.arch.be/index.php?l=nl&m=nieuws&r=tentoonstellingen&e=kinderen-niet-toegelat...   /   http://arch.arch.be/index.php?l=fr&m=actualites&r=expositions&e=enfants-non-admis). Furthermore the correct french labels are however EA /ENA and not Tous/16, then at least these ratings have to be changed...
