badly formatted

there's a movie

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168720/

originally it had a 75 minutes runtime

but combining all the film which was preserved from various sources it came out only 66 minutes, the version which is easily obtainable now

i've tried to add to the section alternate versions the 75 minutes runtime but was declined due to "bad formatting" and i don't see how's that bad according to the guidelines i was linked to

can anyone submit a 75 minute alternative version to this title?

I would do this if I could be certain. Are you certain, agof? How do we know?

if you watch the current version it's missing bits here and there and is made of different recordings

this dvd is listing old runtime

of course dvd itself have only 66 min because that's all what's left

but the listing uses the original czech data

king kong is also a 1933 movie

just watch for yourself it skips parts and is glued together from good scans and from terrible fuzzy re-recording

a lot of czech sources talk about 75 minutes

what is a reliable source?

i can't track to an edit because as far as wikipedia page existed it always was 75, even beyond 2006

same way it can be said that 66 is a spreaded mistake because there are a lot of 63 listings

or where is a reliable source that it is 66 minutes?

how's there is no base to the claim if it literally doesn't use the back of dvd?

A reliable source would be one that has a long reputation for being accurate and probably transparent too; while being responsible for zero or nearly zero erroneous statements, zero willfully-deceptive statements and zero evidence tampering/suppression.

because it's said by a lot of czech people, whose word i'd take over usa wikipedia

i don't have a stake in it but saying that it's 66 minutes has zero proof too

in my eyes so far any runtime has equal amount of evidence, because while 66 version looks like it actually misses chunks, i can say that too for a lot of modern usa movies too, with known runtimes

Might there be a Czech university that has has a copy of the 75-minute-long cut of the film?

Hi, mkl. Well, you're more than welcome to read agof's mind and explain his motives while you're at it. Haha. :P

wouldn't it not be a lost footage that way?

like yes maybe something somewhere can exist, they've fixed more of metropolis already after i've watched new recently found ultimate mega cut edition

also it's old enough for everyone involved to die

the info can be on pre-war posters, newspapers, advertisement etc, everything that could be kept in the archives of both countries.

but then again, eastern front

and archives could as well have been moved to germany or to us

there can be interviews with cast or crew. and czeck for me is like german for englishmen, so i can't even research into that

there is an easily obtainable 4:3 cut of tt0095960

and even a 16:9 cut

so does that mean there never was original full cinematic cut because it was lost?

saying "look the file is 66", is the same as me saying "look the footage is missing"

so what's the difference between two heresays?

and even better, tt0095960 was filmed in 70mm yet imdb says it was 35 mm, but is 109m instead of 83m?

so you don't have to proof anything, because you are a gospel of truth

well if there's no point of arguing and you will have actual proof some time later anyway, then why do you just spend time constantly insulting me

you jump to so many baseless conclusions and assumptions that actually worried me about your changes to the database.

Well, agof, you're asking people have a go at submitting a correction concerning a subject matter that they may know nothing about, and when asked for adequate evidence by people who definitely don't know enough, you do not seem able to provide it. What is this stuff about "it's said by a lot of czech people"? Who? What if the belief is tantamount to an urban legend? Whereas our dear mkl suggests that we wait around for a disproof that the movie ever screened with a running time other than an hour plus six minutes. I would be glad to wait, but I do take issue with the way mkl makes it look like he is quoting me instead of you. What gives?

He expects you to wait a few more weeks or even several months, agof. Either that or he is simply unable to deliver on his claims.

If the _original_ runtime, namely the runtime of the initial release, was 75 min, that's what IMDb's runtime should be.

Alternate runtimes don't have to go under Alternate Versions. They can be additional runtimes, which show here:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168720/technical

like this:

i did never force you to give a concrete deadline and then use it three times more as an insult (and deleting them later)

if you didn't give the deadline yourself after insulting people and then disappear for a month i would not be writing anything

i'm winning my life

i both got a result and didn't waste a month just sitting in one place watching blank screen silently, having a good laugh instead

and also i didn't even lose the track on an issue in a pile of other things i need to keep track of

Yeah, yeah, sure, agof. Thanks for bringing the matter to the attention of the IMDb Community in the first place. On one hand, I'm always glad to hear from you, but on the other, I see that you don't respond well to people getting on your nerves or even so much as missing your point.
