Badge of Honor (1934)

Hi,

I just submitted a bunch of updates and will fix Badge of Honor but there something going on a staff member really should look into. Over the past maybe 2 weeks. I've had to remove the "Music" genre from probably 30 or more titles. It's obvious the same contributor who thinks every western is a genre has no idea what the music genre is supposed to be an he seems to be using it to pad numbers or push another agenda I guess.

Badge of Honor is on Amazon Prime and public domain but the page is completely messed up. I just submitted a new plot outline. Even the outline is wrong and so were the keywords. The movie is about a rich guy who wants to make it on his own and he wants to become a newspaper reporter. He's been turned down by every newspaper but happens save the life of the daughter of a publisher and she gets him a job on a paper that's being sabotaged by it's editor and so the story is the editor trying to get rid of him (Buster Crabbe) and him trying to figure out what's going to happen. The girl is only involved because the catholic church of the time deemed it "code" that there had to be one.    Even the keywords were wrong.

Anyways par for the course it's down as a "music" genre. There wasn't a since sound of music in this thing.   I know the guys a prolific contributor but this is getting to be some obsession I guess.

For Example this title. It's obvious he's just looking down at credits going "oh look a musician's listed" Don Weston plays a bad guy, plays the guitar for maybe 10 seconds and that's it. No music.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0039034/reference/

This one has I think one 20 second song in a saloon by a background musician.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0031267/reference/

This movie is about a guy called "fiddlin"" so they play the fiddle by the campfire. I think there's no more than 2 minutes worth of stuff in here. (Ken Maynard can't sing)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0025108/reference/

The only music in this is the funeral march song.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026017/reference/

non in any of these titles either.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0027861/reference/
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0029083/reference/               (only one song in this)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0029487/reference/
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032312/soundtrack/            (only 2 songs in this) (just stuff played in saloon)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032342/soundtrack/             (movie is about a boxer, all soundtrack stuff is ridiculously put danced by stuff because of a ballroom sequence)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0033649/reference/                  (one song)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0021161/reference/                (no music in this but somebody listed an actor as an accordion player)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0018356/reference/                (this is a silent film...)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0024970/reference/                (one song in this)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0018106/reference/                (another silent film with no music)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0029959/reference/                (only music is a church scene where they sing rock of ages)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034677/reference/                 (no music here and fake keywords) (Dave O'Brien sang in a few movies but not this one)

I would estimate the contributor has wrongly put down the music genre for probably 500 to 1000 titles if  not more.  The same thing with their thing and westerns. I don't understand  how Gunsmoke got locked as a drama. with precedent that a tv series describes the whole series. i.e. Simpsons, i.e. star trek, I Love Lucy, etc
I'm really scared to even try to correct this genre because when I tried once all the stuff got added back just like the western genre.  It's obvious that they've taken this music thing to a new insane level.  These titles are just the tip of the iceberg.  I scared to even touch the guys honestly which has pretty much invalidated the whole purpose of the music genre.  I every film listed about not only did music not play a significant role to the story but it played virtually no role in the story and sometimes wasn't even there.

Hi @phillip -

My apologies for the late staff reply.  I have now removed the "Music" genre from the reported titles above.  Additionally, I have identified around 1,000 related incidents and also removed the genre from those titles as well.

If you continue finding invalid Music genre listings, continue to report them for removal within the contribution form, however, if you see patterns where they are incorrectly re-listed, let us know and our staff can then investigate further.
