Are HELP messages still being looked at?

There are another 25+ items on the Plaza news page, some dating back a year.

These news items have now been corrected and should be removed from the page shortly.  I can also confirm that the ticket filed for this issue is still open and pending resolution.

The biggest issue is that new stories will typically mention a person by first&last name early in the story, and then later mention them by only the first or last name.  These singular names usually match a singular name in the IMDb database, and thus get incorrectly attached to those names.

I've submitted "corrections" for thousands of these types of issues so far this year.

It seems never ending.

The resolution I see would be that if a potential name match is a sub-set of a previously matched name in a story, you either match it to that full name, or leave it unmatched.  That wouldn't fix all issues, but would take care of a good portion of them.

Thanks for your suggestions, I have included your comments on the ticket for the tech team to review.

Just checking to see if there has been any progress here. I'm still reporting what seems like 1000's of incorrectly linked news items each week.

Unfortunately, each reported issue typically requires a follow up, because the cleanup is rarely completely correctly.

Also, even more problematic is that the replies to these problem reports no include the original issue, so there is no way to know what they are replying about.

As it relates to the issue that started this thread, there are currently 27 incorrect news items, and 3 incorrect photos on nm4641993's page.

Thanks for having stayed on top of these news desk issues and doing your best to report them, I understand how frustrating it can be when you read through these news articles and the same issue is reoccurring at high volumes.

I can confirm that the ticket is still a open and is a work-in-progress as we have not yet targeted a systematic fix.  I have included your comments and ongoing observations on the ticket to help give the issue a push, unfortunately, I can't provide a timeline on the fix.
